If anyone is interested and can check back issues of European Car, Oct 2001 you can verify the weight when Kokeln built my car. The article starts on page 57 and has more in depth info about my car on page 62. I have not added anything but engine mods so the weight is still the same per my last corner balance.

Hans if you need more info PM me and I will try to help you out.

Landjet - with such a great power/weight ratio and the other bits it appears you have done, can you hang with 996 cups?

The first time I ran against cup cars was Hallett last year. I was able to get one of them but that was the first time I had raced in 2 or 3 years so I was not on top of my game. With a fresh engine and more seat time I will say yes more will fall. It's like any other class some are better drivers than others. The HP/weight is really not going to be the issue. Those cars just handle so wonderful it's fun to be behind them going into a corner and watch the suspension work they just really stick and go.

From what I've seen JAB racing can certainly hold it's own on the track. Don't bet against these guys.

I would think it does weigh in the region of 5-10 lbs., controller + pump. It has been some time since I have had the ABS pump in my hands... On top of that you could simplify the braking circuit a bit, and take away some wiring.

Talking about track advantages: We recently did an hour braking practice.
From 60 mph I had 2-3 m shorter braking distance without ABS. But that is in a straight line, and with braking as only focus.

In racing use I would think that amateur racers like me would have an advantage from having ABS. On top of that comes the savings in tire wear from blocked wheels due to braking mistakes..

yeah I really am considering a race abs system.. but not in near future though, we are allowed 50kg less if we dont have abs.

There are some differing views in regards to ABS. The old time racer laughed disparagingly at the idea saying that it was devoid of feel and that a real driver would never use it. Then of course technology caught up and now there are many race cars with ABS. There is also the theory that it can be prone to failure on the track as it may not be able to recover in time after repeated high speed/hard braking episodes although I would think that the booster might find it hard to recover in the same way??
Discuss.

PS what about larger M/Cylinders? Anyone done anything here?

I would think with what you have, you should be able to show these guys a clean pair of heels. Still it is amazing just how much the GT3 platform fight's above it's weight. Amazing traction as you say Craig. Their brake lights seem to just flick on and then off while we are still stamping our feet into the footwell like Fred Flintsone. Technology hey?? Still, imagine their faces when our 20 yr old cars do beat them....priceless!!!

This is a fantastic race weight and would be my ideal max dream weight for a race car... How this was done without a tube chassis or alloy T/Q tube would be interesting to see. could you post pics of the mods done landjet ?...

He does have a tube frame front and rear. Here are some pics before Craig owned it - Craig I hope you don't mind.
