Default Universal Catalytic converters

There are a lot on ebay, did anyone actually use one and installed it in their car?

I know that they are cheap, and you get what you pay for. But i got some "cheap" things off ebay before and they were surprisingly good.

I need a CAT for EU emissions (when the car is shipped to Germany), but it is also good to have a CAT to reduce those green house gases.

Thanks guys

I'm not sure about "universal." I'm told some aftermarket cats quit after a few years. I have one that is in warranty and it might be bad.

If u have to undergo the whole "sniffer" thing. make sure and get a three way and not a two way cat. Three way cats help with NOx

I have an after market (brand name muffler company) high flow cat on mine and it passed the sniffer test in Tx without any problems. Had it done at a local muffler shop all in for about 200.

At some point, one of the previous owners changed the exhaust test pipe and cat back. The test pipe is mild steel (loads of rust) and is straight through with no CAT or primary muffler. The CAT back is stainless with an after market (cheap) muffler.

My car came with the C00 option code, which is for "Euro Emissions", which we (my step dad and i) believe it is equipped with a CAT as standard for German Models (car is German Spec).

So, as of now, there is only the rear muffler on the cat back, which will be replaced with a better unite, but i need a CAT first for shipping the car to Germany by the end of the year.

The aftermarket cat on my car is mounted at the Y-junction where the exhaust joins the waste gate output before heading to the muffler. Is that a good location?

if the muffler is crap, you have no cat, and the steel tubing is crap, then why not buy a good aftermarket exhaust with cat? sounds like a better alternative...

Richard that's because all it is is a safty check for our cars in NC since it's older. All they do is look underneath and say, "yup der it is Frank, looks good to me."

LOL
