Default BALL JOINT Replacement

Had my car on a lift while getting oil change and the tech showed me some play in the lower ball joints from side to side, although minimal he said they should be replaced since it might be a little dangerous at high speeds. My mechanic said it's normal for the 951 to have a little play in the ball joints, and one shop said that they replace the whole control arm on each side which is very costly. What do most of you guys do for the ball joints and what's the cheapest and best way to go?

Get the rennbay kit, cheap (relatively speaking) and not horrible to do.

Yea, I was just looking at that from previous threads, looks inexpensive, and if its anything like their fuel hoses, which I have, I would be very happy...

It is an excellent kit. I went with the track upgrade. The solid bushing in there should not effect ride quality.

i went with the track kit as well...with beefed up pins and longer pins to avoid binding at the track (even though there is debate on the issue) I haven't had a problem since...about 8 track weekends since the swap

If you don't have time to do it yourself or have any doubt, take the control arm off and send them to SSI Auto. www.ssiauto.com Call Sloan or Warren, they'll do the ball joints, crack check them as well, and ship them back to you. New pins and bronze bushings, new retainers, Bosch boots, and epoxy. They'll also remove and install bushings in the front or just remove the old $hit, then you can install Welts, RE or ?? in them when you get them back.

So far, for $185, the track ball joint rebuilding kit from Rennbay sounds like the quickest and best way to go...

I spoke to Travis and he said he's going to be down in a couple of weeks and he can put them on, who better than him to install his line of products?

Last time I checked, Vertex was selling rebuilt arms for $149 each.

I thought the story behind the rebuilt arms was that the metal was weakened in them since they bore? out the ball joint pocket making it more prone to cracking?
