Not Sure if anyone has done this yet but I may have figured something out that many may like. I think I have uncovered a way to make the euro driving lights out of the normal US spec fog lights. This requires 2 extra bulb reflectors, 4 total mounting plastic pieces for the bulb reflector, a dremel tool, pliers, and 2 long bolts. I am leaving the wiring up to you guys to figure out but I believe you can jsut tap into the existing wiring and make it work.

I just replaced one fog light due to it being cracked/ broken and this is what I came up with. I am also using the reflector from the broken fog light (shown) to replicate what I will do to the new fog light:

1) take off the fog light.

This is what it looks like:



2) Take off the reflector using pliers



3) Take off one side of both sliders and drill bolt holes:

Once that is done you can slide the bulb reflector into position and the finished piece looks like this (I know my fog is broken but I wanted to show you what it would look like from the front):

ALSO, I havent installed or tried this so Im still awaiting someone to critisize my invention!

and also: IF anyone has a bulb reflector (not the flat reflector) along with 2 of the plastic clips, then I would greatly appreciate you sending them my way. Im paypal ready and want them bad! thanks, cant wait to here your comments.

BTW: I forgot to also add that The bulb reflector seen is the one I removed from that same fog light in the stock (U.S. spec) fog light. I believe it is a universal part used for both sides on the euro driving lights. So all you need to do is get 2 more of those reflectors. Part number: Bosch 1 307 022 048.

Also: I did this (including pics) in about 20 minutes. So it truely is a very easy modification.

Funny, I am working on the exact same project right now. So far I have done exactly what you have. I was feeling lazy, so I purchased the Paragon wiring kit, but you could easily put together all your wiring needs for much less. The only thing I am not sure about is how hard it is going to be to aim them correctly.

Nicely done. I to was thinking the same exact thing when i had my fogs off. I guess the only thing left now is figuring out the wiring. There is a word document floating around which has instructions on how to hook the wiring up by using an extra fog light switch. Lucky i kept a set of fogs with blown out lenses.. .

I have never seen the back of a euro fog so dont think I know what I am truely talking about here, but when you drill out the holes there are arrows (up/down and left/right) by both bolt holes. I believe when you put a long bolt in and use this method, you should have full adjusting abilities with the lights.

anyone have a wiring harness that they are willing to take pics of or that they will quickly draw the schematics of?

I dont even want a switch in mine, just t hardwire them to turn on whenever the fogs are on.

anyoine know if I can just split both positive wires and grouds for both? or will I blow a fuse or anything? can I jsut put in a larger fuse?

I wouldnt do that, even if you're running 55W bulbs in both holders. Too much current for that little wire, the fuse isn't the issue. But to answer your question, yes you can put a higher amp fuse in, but you'll then melt the wire.

This is some info from another thread. I think it was posted by Specialty Concrete Coatings (sp?)

Set Up:
Driving Lights ON w/ low beam
Driving Lights OFF w/ high beam

Wiring:
1. Splice brown (neutral) wire from headlamps. Connect to the driving light plate.
2. Splice yellow wire from the headlamps. Connect to the white wire coming off the driving light.
3. Do not splice the headlamp's white wire as stated in the instructions.

Fuses:
1. Change fuse #22 and #23 from 7.5 to 15.
2. Do not change fuse #20 & #21 as the instructions state. This should stay 7.5.

If you wanted to run them with high beams instead of lows, you would splice to the white wire instead of the yellow. Can't help on running off the fogs. Just going to wire mine to the high beams.

Hmmmmm. I have an extra set of 951 fog lights for the '83 project. I might have to do this myself.

I have real euros on the 951.
