Anyone familiar with this blow off valve on ebaymotors?
About to buy a diverter valve and rather than overpay from lindsey, etc... figured I could save a few $$$ on ebaymotors.

Why a blow off? why not a diverter? Come on greg... if you're gonna do it, do it right...
so you can keep up with me...
edit: I should look at pics to realize that is a diverter valve before I start talking ****... Anyway, never heard of that brand, don't know if it's qualit.
edit 2: it's 9:51 PM in Denver!

If your buying a name brand knock-off, you can often times swap the guts out for real brand such as Tial or Greddy replacement parts. For a fraction of the cost, you can have the same as the real thing.

diverter valve
i have this same diverter valve on my 951.it may say blow off valve but it is actually a diverter valve. dimension wise it is an exact copy of the forge diverter valves, and alot cheaper than the forge. i swapped the spring that came with it for a forge spring rated for more boost. i had the forge unit in my old vw 1.8t and see no difference between the two products. get it now

I have seen this thread a few times on this exact valve and the consensus is out. This diverter valve is a great product/value! Interesting this came up today. I am currently running this valve and yesterday I turned the boost up to 12psi and for the first time I heard the valve releasing (you know what I mean) the air after WOT pulls. I didn't think you could make that ricer sound with a diverter/recurculating valve. Then again, the car is spooling so damn hard and fast I can't believe what 15-18psi will feel like.

I have the same unit and it works great for the $$.
I pressure checked it before install and it held over 50 psi easily.
The nice thing is you can replace the o-rings if needed down the road

I took this one right out of the box and it leaked as hell .. Seems like it is missing a gasket of some sort at the side inlet. Problem is that it is not machined with a straight cut lip so fitting a o-ring is not optimal.

sorry I don't subscribe to using cheap *** knock off parts on my cars. I will pay for the real deal with known performance and quality.
Good luck - might as well go buy a knock of tial wastegate to go with it LOL

Correction here is the one I bought

It uses 2 o-rings and seals very well.
As far as using knock off stuff when it is an item such as this it doesn't have too many parts that fail, in this case it is machined well, and the o-rings are replaceable

I have a knock off Tial which I swapped out the internals for the real deal Tial parts. The only difference is mine doesn't have a Tial stamp on the outside.

2bridges, I usaully agree with you however you have to look at this from the other perspective as well. When you have a head ache will you pay the extra cost for Advil or is Ibuprofen acceptable? Know it or not they are the exact same thing. In regards to what we're talking about I think it is the same generic vs. name brand in some cases such as this. If you can agree with that statement than I would prefer to save some money for the same part then have the name brand. I also understand that this is not always the case even with myself. The point being I believe in this case if you choose to go with the evo valve over this one, the only thing you can gain is the name.
