Megasquirt files
Good day everyone... I am in the process of seting up my track 944 with a megasquirt II stand alone system... wondering if anyone has done that already and if you would be interested in sharing the maps...would help me as a starting point at least...
Thx,
Michel.

Shoot me a PM.
Tell me about your setup and I will explain my map to you.
Here is a video of it building boost by blipping the throttle......

I'm considering doing a megasquart system but i'm in process of learning about what i'm getting myself into and what all will need to be changed in terms of sensors and wiring.
so what are the main challenges setting one of these up? what sensors that will need to be changed?

The main challenge for me was definitely figuring out how to mount an appropriate trigger wheel in order to control ignition timing. Setting it up for fuel only took a couple hours. It was very straight forward. Integrating the EDIS was much more difficult but well worth the effort in the end. My car ran identical 1/4 mile times with Autothority stage II chips at 15psi as it did with Megasquirt controlling fuel and igniton at 11psi.

so were you able to use all the stock sensors? were you able to remove the stock computers or did one or both boxes remain in the car?
what did you do about wireing? did you make a all new harness? cut the stock one or simple make an adapter cable to interface with the oem harness. I think I would like this setup just in case I sell the car and want to take the MS with me.

Have you ran it at 15 psi yet , How much better was it at 15 psi........

I ran it at slightly less than 14psi (I don't actually have a data-log for that run so I'm reluctant to give an exact figure). Heck I'll just give you the exact slip data for the autothority run and the 13-14psi Megasquirt run.
Autothority Stage II at 15psi (best of 5 runs): 14.553 @ 97.640 MPH
1/4 Mile ET: 14.553
1/4 Mile MPH: 97.640
1/8 Mile ET: 9.510
1/8 Mile MPH: 77.220
0-60 Foot ET: 2.501
Temperature F: 80.0
MS-II 10-11psi (verified by datalog) First and Only Run: 14.7xx @ 97.xxx MPH
MS-II 13-14psi (not verified by datalog) (Only run, hit revlimiter in 1st): 14.173 @ 100.600MPH
1/4 Mile ET: 14.173
1/4 Mile MPH: 100.600
1/8 Mile ET: 9.311
1/8 Mile MPH: 79.460
0-60 Foot ET: 2.423
Temperature F: 99.0
I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions, Mr. Wayne

I was just curious as to what you had at 15 psi , seeing you where running 15 psi before .......
MegaSquirt is alright I think its one of the best bang for the bucks out there but I will stick with Haltech now for more money based on a few things.

I don't have enough experience with the Tec3 to compare it.
What I can say is that the Megasquirt takes a lot of fiddling to get working properly. My impression is the that Tec3 (as a higher priced product) has all of the little bugs ironed out.
One advantage I see for the Megasquirt is the huge cult following. Users are developing cool new features all the time.

Michel,
I have my 87 944 n/a running great on MS1 Fuel only but preparing for spark (RPHarris, I have questions for ya via private message, if you don't mind). I know that's not much of a help to you but JustinL has his N/A running on Microsquirt successfully. He is also in transition of setting up spark.
I don't know how much my N/A experience will be to you since I used MS1 but fire away if you have any questions. I'd be glad to PrintScreen my 12x12 fuel map for ya or help with Pinouts.
