Default Scraped Cylinder wall Question w/ Pictures

Blew my Headgasket this weekend.

Same place everyone does.

I have a scrap in my #2 Cylinder wall. I remember the PO (Eyal951) saw this, but his picture wasn't as clear.

Is there anything i can do here?

What does this cause / a little oil in the combustion chamber?

Lart,

That is a SMOKIN deal. I notice some corrosion next to the cylinder wall. It would be much cheaper to just put your motor in this car. That is a BIG scrape. You won't really know how bad this will be until you button everything up and run the car. Don't change the rings with this scrape.

You already ate that motor if that scratch is as deep as it looks - it looks to be about half as deep as it is wide. As mentioned above, you'll have blowby. I would worry about the condition of the rings. At the bare minimum, I'd want to bore the motor if it's not too deep and install larger pistons. That's a nasty looking gouge.

I would pull that one piston out of the cylinder and make sure you don't have a problem with a ring/piston. If it looks OK, and you don't want to sink money into a rebuild, then put the original rings/piston back in and run it like you stole it.

Why did it blow? Do you have a AFR gauge?

Lart's deal is pretty sweet.

NAW, i'm keeping this one till i blow it up.

I did the same thing and did blow my 2.5 running 23psi. I now have a 3.0 going into the car. If you don't plan on going past a 2.5, Lart's offer is a REALLY GOOD deal.

I've heard that he likes to negotiate? LOL

Good luck with your car.

she will blow sooner than you think. A broken ring is just a matter of time.
