What damage could be done from adding too much oil?
I've already pulled the extra oil out, and it was a significant ammount... (1 quart). but my turbo is whistling loudly, and there is no boost leak that I found. I know when I was looking for that leak, I opened the throttle body and there was litterally a river of oil coming out of it... as well as the turbocharger... all the charge pipes were nicely coated... nothing good...
What do I look for to see if I blew out the turbo seals, or what other damages could have been done that I should look for?

I may have put in a quart and a half too much... I stupidly did the oil change with the engine cold, then put in the 7.4 quarts that Porsche recommends as per the owners manual. I ran it 3 days with too much oil, and it did get to operating temp, but never more than halfway up the temp gauge. oil pressure was always good.
I'm concerned I blew out the seals on the turbocharger, but my friend beleives I didn't. it's a 4 month old turbocharger. I mean the vanes on the compressor are perfect, and all the boots and hoses are in great condition, no tears, and properly tightened down, so I'm confused as to why the turbo sounds like that of a bus...

For track use don't overfill the oil. Keep it full, but never over. The issues is that overfull oil has a greater chance to get whipped up by the crank causing it to foam. Foamed up oil is really bad for bearings.
On my NA track car I overfilled the oil by a quart or two when my dipstick tube move up. It caused my dipstick to sit high and therfore read low. The result was large clouds of smoke out the tail pipe and lots of blowby in the intake pipes. I solved the problem by draining the oil. No lasting damage on my NA motor.

if the turbo seals were bad, youd have a large cloud of smoke following you from all the oil getting in the exhaust. Sounds like the extra oil caused some to get sucked up into the intake no biggie- drain it back where it should be- BTW- when i do an oil change its always 6.5qts- of course i dont drain the oil cooler...

Geoff, don't sweat it. Very unlikely you hurt anything. The river of oil in your intake was from the extra oil finding a place to go. Your engine will eat it and fart a bit of oil smoke. I've overfilled mine on purpose (track) and never had a problem...but these days I just keep it full. As for the turbo whining...not sure what that is. I would suggest drive it for a while and see if it gets better. Any boost issues?
