Default OT! Any Rennlisters in Edmonton, Canada?

I am going to find myself in Edmonton on 21st and 22nd September and wondered what is worth seeing in Edmonton?
Or would I be better hiring a car and going up into the Rockies? Or going up to Calgary? Come on guys give us a clue what to do! I fly in on 21st and have a conference/training course starting on 23rd

cheers guys and sorry for the OT

Never heard of anyone going to Edmonton to find themselves.... I usually hear of people saying they want to find themselves living in a place other than Edmonton though... At least the people ive known

Rockies are good. Check out Banff National Park, very few places like it in the world. Jasper National Park is another stunning place to go. Both those places will be cold at night at that time of year, possibly some snow. All sorts of outdoorsy things to do.

Vancouver is a short/cheap flight away as well.

PMSL! Its strange how you can type things and not see how it could be read!
I won't be smoking illicit substances or looking for Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in Edmonton!! I think a trip to Banff and the rockies may be the answer.
Been to Vancouver, what a citry that place is, could quite happily live there

You are more than welcome to come over. Calgary is about 3 hours south of Edmonton and I live another 1 hour south of there. You could fly down however I work during the day so we would have to co-ordinate some kind of schedule . On the down side I'm in the middle of a turbo swap/front main seal/timing belt repair on the 968 and my 951 started a nasty knock on it's way to my office a couple weeks ago. So no p-car rides I'm afraid. You'll have to settle for a supercharged NSX. Too bad you weren't in town on the 20th as that is the local Porsche Club track night that I organize.

September 23rd is our PCA autocross day if you would like to come. I can register you as a guest if you wanted to catch a lift into the airbase with me.

Send me a PM and we'll discuss.

Tommo, just have your car shipped over and you could see some beautiful country. A drive to the Rockies if you haven't seen them before is well worth it. I will be at the autocross also.

Dan,

I will bring one of my cars over for a 3 month tour at some point, but the cost in't worth it for the 8 days I am in Alberta. Most of the time will be taken up with training/conference so unfortunately only have a couple of days spare. I will probably hire a car and have a drive up into the Rockies.
Any advice on car hire over there? I know it can be a dodgy subject in US/Canada or alternatively anybody want to rent me their ride for a couple of days??
Thanks for the offer Solo, lets do it another time it sounds like you are tied up my friend!

cheers
Tom

Edmonton?!?! Now why would you want to go there??
J/K....
I was in Calgary for 6 years before I moved to Seattle, sure do miss Canada, but not Calgary.
My wife is from Edmonton, I guess there is the big mall.
Have fun, get out to Banff ar Lake Louise, very nice, get soloracer to take you for a drive on the A1 highway out there, fun!!
Regards,
Dave

Hey Nersan,
I sure will mate! Any ideas on car hire over there? I can use the internet but haven't got time to read all the small print and find out I have to pay even more before I can drive the car away. What is a fair rate over there?

Cheers
Tom

The hidden gem in Edmonton is Fort Edmonton. Seriously, my wife dragged me in there one day and we ended up spending about 6 hours there. The Fort is set up to show you how people lived around Edmonton from earliest white settlers to the 1930's(I think). It doesn't sound that cool but it really is.

Otherwise head to the Columbia icefields via Jasper. Car rental, I use Enterprise, you will end up getting some crappy mid sized American car but it's cheap. I had a Grand Prix for 69 days(during an auto claim) it cost 31 dollars a day, unlimited kilometers. Boring but cheap
