sounds like its a very miniscule gain, may as well put a filter on there though to protect your investment :-) i think thats interesting though, but back to the topic...

Hey man, it's been a while since we spoke. I haven't spent too much time here but you're one of the few guys here that can appreciate my next project.

how much boost does i dare to run with maf, 788cc injectors and k26/8 and 3" exhaust?
at what boost does the k26/8 run out of steam and just build backpressure?

15 to be "safe" and up to 18. Not sure beyond that.

All in all I could not be happier with my Vitesse MAF. It solved all kinds of issues and the drivability of the car is MUCH better. Might be expensive but it was worth it. The MAF gives you a good starting point for MODS.

It's too bad that many people base their decision of whether or not to buy a MAF based on peak HP. I have a business associate in another state with a 911 and sent him a link to the Vitesse website. He said he couldn't justify the cost based on the apparent HP increase. It's true that at WOT you only see a few HP increase, the big increase is at lower RPM's and partial throttle, which is real-world driving. Dyno runs don't show that.

Actually, Albert Broadfoot who I am sure you know is one of the ones who told me this in, addition to Gilbert from Vertex in Miami and countless others that race on the circuit, but go ahead and wate your money.

It depends on the angle you are approaching this discussion from. From a technical perspective the improvements MAF provides are real and have been documented by hundreds of people that have carried out the install on turbos and S2's. So despite the advice you have received MAF's DO give you real benefits, though not necessarily in out and out power increase. Now if you're talking value for money then that puts a completely different slant on the subject, but if value for money is what you're after then maybe you should question whether you should have a 20yr old Porsche in the first place let alone throw cash at it modifying it.

Ah yes, Broadfoot and Vertex, experts in the porsche world who use 15 + year old software. Both have excellent reputations in the Porsche performance world. What happened to Broadfoot racing and the countless people he ripped off? Isn't Vertex simply a parts reseller (APE stuff when is come to MAF). I'd believe them over the countless guys who are actually running it. Stick to BOV and swedging threads and try not to give technical/application advice unless you have some ACTUAL experience with the application in question. Better yet, read my signature.

I did hear bad things about Vertex, They buy seconds, in other word if bosch makes a part ie. a coil and it's out of specs they sell it to Vertex who sells it to you at a discounted rate. I had a problem with Vertex 5 yrs ago with a power steering pump (3 diff units all defective).. I ended up buying a reconditioned unit from Porsche.

well said, jeremy.

i think one of the biggest problems hindering progress in the 951 aftermarket world is that people don't seem very open to the ever-onwards march of technology.

i like guys like special tool who aren't afraid to real-world test new ideas and constantly push the envelope.

Shouldn't the 8 hold till redline? Or is 19 pretty much exhausting it?
