Default Just ordered Lindsay racing exhaust- muffler?

just finished ordering the steel full no-cat 3" exhaust from the Lindsay racing website. It comes w/ no muffler, so while im at the muffler shop getting the 02 bung welded in-(38 on the website VS. 18 locally)- i was going to pick up a muffler as well. The lindsay muffler is like 85-150 bucks. I can pick up a magnaflo, flomaster or xLrator muffler from the local shop for 70-90 bux plus a nice stainless tip. Any suggestions?

All I can tell you is I worked on/drove a 951S with the Lindsey 4-inch and NO muffler, NO cat, and the wastegate just dumped under the car.

It was wicked - you do not sneak up on anyone!

I like the magnaflow straight thru design, stays 3" all the way thru the muffler. Not quiet but not too loud.

this is the one w/ the integrated wg pipe. I had a 3" on my supra turbo and it was pretty awsome, im hoping this will help out performance wise and should sound much better than my very quiet stock stuff.

As a point of reference, I am running the Flowmaster and like it. I've had plenty of folks tell me its "wrong" for 951's (internal baffles), but I don't seem to be having any performance problems... lol

Regards,

Dan I have tried the Flowmaster 40, Magnaflow, and just installed a Borla XR-1 last week. I prefer the Borla. IMHO it was worth the extra $.

100% correct. I run a 3" cat-less and muffler-less Lindsey exhaust. Which is 100% illegal in VA. I remember takin it for a ride after I installed it and passing a cop. I wanted to cut the car off and coast by him until he could no longer see me.

You're kidding!
Is that on a street legal car?
Must be loud as hell.

The car had a valid inspection tag - that's all I can say about that.

I have an XR-1 on my 944 NA, little ricey sounding from 2k-3k - other than that I love it!

I went from the Flowmaster 40 to Borla XR-1.
The FM was much too loud for me.

I've got the cat-less LR 3" with the Magnaflow and FlowMaster straight through "outlaw" resonator. I love it.

I have a 3" cat-less lindsey as well with the magnaflow. I like the sound, but below 3k rpm is borderline ricey. The exhaust note seems to smooth out, and almost "roll" out at or above 4k rpm. It definitely sounds better on boost than in town.

Get the recommended Flowmaster "outlaw" resonator, it made the system perfect IMO.
