I see there is a Powerhaus one on autotrader, but we cant post links to them now right?

Hot-j....GOD I LOVE THAT AVATAR....
The chances of you bumping into someone on the street with a 968 turbo are like one in 20 million pretty much. BUT bumping into a 968 turbo at a DE or concours event might happen a few times.
The thing I'd be against is the turbo RS bodied 968s that don't have a turbo on them, but the cosmetics imply that they do. These cars would diminish the one in a million aspect of it, but by NO MEANS would it take away from the amazingly supurb motor, performance and sound upon start up.
If you do get a 968 turbo, ensure that you have the IC duct, the two naca ducts and the other appropriate parts to get the image right. Do it, but don't sell the 951.

I believe there is another in Canada - there was a black one listed on 968.net - but I'm not sure where the other is or if it is still here.

I don't have any pics of the enginebay (there are ones of that in the above linked thread), but here is the exterior. He's got a cf dash and rollbar inside.

A local doctor/businessman who also owned a P-car repair shop had his car converted into a relatively factor-like 968 Turbo. I've ridden in it on the the track and the car simply hauls a$$. He also drives it on the street quite a bit.

I'm also building a black one which will be a 3.0L. Most likely I'll let it go for $20."

I did a ton of research and could only come up with about a dozen or so in the US, factory and converted. I am sure there are closet 968T, built by Powerhaus and others, that just aren't members or care to post. The chances of you ever seeing another one are slim to none, with the exception of being at a huge meet like Hershey or Porsche Parade. Hell, I have never seen another 968 on the road ever. I have seen two at various local shops, but that is the extent of it.
Just like any car, you won't get what you put into it back out. I was in the process of taking the task on using the 16V, had tons of work done, but ended up scrapping it as now is not the time in my life for uncertainties. Building, tuning, and making a 968T reliable are uncertainties. The advantages over the 951 are endless though. There is enough information available now to take on such a task, and I believe Chris White has worked a TEC3 for a VarioCam 16V engine already. The biggest draw back is tuning, as a good stand alone is very expensive (when starting from scratch) and tuning the Bosch Motronic is only good to a point (I can get very detailed with this via PM if you would like). If you can perform most of the work yourself, then going the 968 route can be rewarding and relatively inexpensive. If you choose to pay someone to perform the work, the price can be overwhelming. The good news is that now you can buy 16V turbo headers from SFR, TEC3 from Chris, and SFR front mount intercooler. Those are the biggest hold backs to turbo 968's, manifolds, tuning, and intercooler. 55lb or bigger Bosch/Sieman injectors bolt right in, and plumbing is relatively easy.
Then there was the intake manifold! I have spent countless hours trying to figure this one out, and I can't. Standard log type manifolds seem to be severely inadequate for the 16V, and hacking apart two manifolds (968 and 951) seens a bit 'rigged', so I was stuck.
I say go for it! The 968 chassis is known to be considerably stiffer than the 951, the interior improvements are nice (although they were mostly available on 89 951's), the front end is different from the norm, no matter how you look at it, your going to have no more than 1/about 4000 (probably closer to 3000 or less now with race cars and wrecks), and the 16V is just pimp.

PorscheG96 had an amazon green 968 that Anderson Motorworks/Turbo Tim stuck a turbo on. The factory 968 head was retained with the vario-cam. There was talk about defeating the vario-cam, but this was never done. Boost was limited to 5psi with no intercooler. A 968 adjustable Turbo S spoiler was installed. G96 had the pinion failure that is common to 968's and swapped the broken 6 speed to Joe Chen?? for a 951 5 speed. I think Joe Chen?? also has a 968 with a turbo installed. The car was done on a limited budget and was never really sorted out. The car was featured in Excellence along with another more radical 968 turbo conversion. Both cars were California cars. G96 sold the car a couple of years ago and it was taken out of state. I was told the guy was going to spend some $ and do it up properly. I do not know what happend to this car.
