why do so many people in the 951 community hate other cars?

I don't get it either. Pretty much all cars are cool with me except for luxury SUVs, the new crossovers, and sport sedans like the m5. ok so maybe im not that open minded, btu cmon hwo can you hate on the zo6.

Vettes are fast, and this new year has improved. But they don't really impress me much...
500 hp out of a v8 isn't tough...
And with GM's resources it seems they could have done it a long time ago.
Hell, backyard mechanics were doing it a decade or so ago.
An EVO? Holy ****, that car impresses me, and fully loaded at 36k? Deaammn

I agree with the guy's who think this is nothing new.
The first car race and trash talking was held when the 2nd car was built, what was that a Diamler ?
Ever seen the window sticker with the little dude pissing on Chevy, Ford and so on.
I like cars, they my not all be my cup of tea, but I do have respect for them.

You'd have to think that NOT appreciating other cars is really is sign of insecurity...
I've had lots of good cars over the years -- and a few crappy ones. Most of them have had strong points, and, I think, like many people here, the 951 excels at offering world class performance in an economical package that is both and older car, and still has the looks to fit in with today's world. I also know of few other marques who’s vehicles repeatedly hold up to the abuse of high performance driving.
I once had a great time riding in a viper at Watkins Glen with my instructor, who’s other track car was a 930. As we hit 150 up the back straight, with the car vibrating, shaking and rattling, he says to me, “this cost half what I have in my 911, and it’s just as fast – but you can tell it’s a Chrysler product!”
Given a bottomless checking account, most of my cars would be Porsches, Ferraris and Mercedes. However, any car that isn’t a “transportation appliance” is decent in my book!

I like other cars... but you wont catch me driving a vette. I dont think building a sports car with one of the main concerns being a low price is a very good mentality.

cracks me up is when 944 guys really think they live at the top of the food chain. As if buyin a bottom end 20 year old porsche makes you elite.
Reality check - even when new they were the low buck guys sports car.
I love my 951, but it is what it is.
I must admit any car turns me off in a big way when riced out. Unfortunaltely that is a popular trend for curent model imports

" we think of General Motors and their boring, cookie cutter cars that they are famous for. "
At least they can come up with a design that is (relativly)cheap, efficient, and sells.
Porsche has had to keep the same basic shape for how long now?
The only two vehicles Porsche makes that don't have the same styling cues are the 914 and the Cayanne.

I normally do not like japanese cars but I've been driving this 2000? avalon around for the last week and I'm starting to like it. Still doesn't come close to a BMW sedan though.

Is a vette a sports car or a fast car? A sports car is a light, nimble and quick car. Not a huge monster that can move fast in a line.
Dont get me wrong v06's are sweet cars just not what i like.
Cmon guys a porsche is a porsche there really is no comparing it. If you want a whal....ahem.... shark then get a 928 if you want a lion then get a 951. We should get a 944 mascot...

I love all kinds of cars, I'm a bonafied car-guy. What I have noticed is that alot of "Porsche guys" are just Porsche guys, they aren't car guys. The same follows for BMW owners, Corvette owners, etc. for most every car that has a stigma of it being a status symbol attached to it. I'm also a firm believer of form following function, and thats where I get turned off by some cars.
