why do so many people in the 951 community hate other cars?

I don't hate other cars. I just don't like when people ruen cars with spoilers to the moon and bodykits wide as my house. & also drivers of other cars who think 'Oh look an old porsche, must be slow, il race him'

I think it is due to the fact that a comparable performance car today that packs a 0-60 in under 6 seconds out of the box would cost you upwards of 35k as to where the 951 is a fraction of the cost. Also, people have a tendency to be partial to what they currently drive and this changes with thier cars or trucks,I am guilty of this as well. The fact is for the money a well maintained or low mileage 951 is a nice buy and cant be beat for the $$$

ive noticed after owning over 35 some cars in the past ten years or so, that whatever car you own is usually the best. If you have a Ford truck, then Chevrolets suck. If you have a Pontiac, then Fords suck. After owning quite a few ive realized that Porsche really has its stuff together, but i still like other cars. I think the 80's killed some of the appeal of the Corvette for some of us as the lack of power due to emissions and poor quality back then in general makes us think " how good could they be?" Nowadays Chevrolet among others are getting alot better and seeing the errors of their ways. New Corvettes rock as well as several others. My case, i root for the underdog so since my car is a 4cylinder instead of a turbocharged inline 6 or v8 brute, i feel i have a point to prove. My 20+ year old car w/ half the displacement will whoop you up, weather it be on the track or in my head.

The 951 certainly was a great car in its day, and can hold its own even by todays standards.
Shoot me,
but I am not a fan of engine transplants. If an LS series is what floats your boat buy a Camaro or Corvette.
Shoot me,

I think its because when people find out how good our cars are for the age they are, deeeeeeeeeeep down they're jealous they didn't think to buy one insted of them buying a common car that everyone else has.

I would be surprised if the 88 TS and 89-up turbo wouldn't make this list, if it were about sports cars. I would call the 951 one of the first "modern" sports cars, where the performance wasn't lacking and had to use styling as a cover up. Granted, there are LOTS of newer cars which are better.

I really like my 944 Turbo simply because its peppy, handles well and was sub $10,000.
Naturally, as a car geek I really like performance cars, however my opinion is swayed toward Porsche. The racing heritage and styling did it. Do I look at other performance cars as being inferior? No. Would I rather own a Porsche over alternate sports cars? Price dependent, the answer is yes.

I still contend that I don't get this thread. Not seen any hating around these parts? We just sort of fall into the cars we love. The 'Vette guys love their cars, same with the Mustang guys, EVO guys etc...See nothing wrong with their choice of cars. Good for them. On the other hand, if you detect some form of snobbery or dismissiveness against a 951, well that is just like a red rag to a bull on the track. Love nothing more to beat them and know that they must be re evaluating their opinion.

Wonder what people's opinions would be of the 951 if it was released as an Audi from the beginning? I bet my house it would be rated a classic nowdays???
