why do so many people in the 951 community hate other cars?

I like all kinds of cars. I have just always like 924/944's so I've had a couple. I like Audi's too, so I've had a couple of those too. For me being a college student, it's also about money and what I can afford.

We have to somehow vent our irritation at having to get odd tools, make unique tools, become contortionists to work on our cars, and spend $$$ just because it says Porsche.

I ran a E46 m3 the other day(I hate street racing but...). My 951(k26/6 15 PSI) is slightly modded I say max 280hp not rwhp. Well I kept up since he started and I followed. Uhmm I kept up up to 4th and surelly would pass him in 5th. But I took precaution swirving through some cars since I think that it's very wrong to put other people's life in jeopardy. For a 24 year old car I can see why some people brag about the 951. But there's a lot of newer cars that will destroy the 951. I don't hate a lot of cars, but definately people that because they see an old porsche they want to race right away(E46 M3 guy that I raced). I got the peace sign since he went other way but I wanted to show him that this almost antique car would handle his *** in 5th gear. Should I hate M3's. No I actually want one, but it was good to see some young kid being stunned by the power of an old porsche.

It a simple question for me. The answer is, I have 2nd 951 still fun to drive, espcially the turbo lag. It's still challenging for me.
I have other car like C32 AMG, NSX, WRX STI ....... those fast cars. But the overall feeling can't compare to 951. The balancing, power, simple, it's spirit for German engineering.

Who likes their 951? Plenty of people. Some even love them. They do have a sort of strange hold over some of us, but do even the most brainwashed or dedicated owners think they have even the 100th best car ever...'fraid I don't see it ever written down on any boards...I must be reading the wrong ones.
Do I see car snobbery in some of the rear engined guys? Sure...but we're not talking about them.

Its a honest question.
The posts as of late are really starting to surprise even me. If you can't appreciate something different than what you own that's you're problem but, why mask that disaproval behind obvious slanted opinions and call them facts?
Why is a 951 automatically sooo much better than a 500hp silvia? a supra? a modded corvette? Case in point the c6 zo6 vs 951 thread. We had people literally calling a 2007 model year car that costs 70k and can run the nurburgring in 7:43 bone stock! crap compared to a 951...
What exactly is it about our cars that makes them SOOO superior to everything thats out even today?
The reason im asking is cause I just don't get it. I hate being around ignorance and it just seems there's so much of it around here lately its oozing outta the ears of some car owners. How sad that people can't love cars for cars and appreciate all sorts of things. Instead they point a finger and call that car crap cause its not what they would buy or build.

Hey John! Nice to see 3 years later, your poking the tiger is still working.
My answer is a lot in this community still, and rennlist in general, have not had a lot of contact with newer technology or just don't want to and certainly not into or interested in the "rice" tuning world.
You hit the nail on the head, just ignorance. Some people will only think certain makes and models of cars are good and everything else is crap.
No different than the Harley vs. crotch rocket crowd, muscle car/hot rod vs import crowds, etc.
Sad, but true. I think minds are gradually opening out of their little boxes, but still not going to happen over night.
I think the best point you make is it is fine to think your car is the best, but that does not mean everything else is crap. lol

Like when a Honda fanboy builds his motor and drops in a turbo half the size of the motor, suddenly they are the greatest thing in the world. Don't get me wrong, your 10 second quarter mile is cool and all, but you have drums in the back and your rotors are as thick as my thumb!
My personal favorite is when an STI owner tries to tell me he has a Porsche engine stock and his car cost less new

If you Have a given vOlume/RPM/induction conversation, why is there a debate?
And so where do we draw the Line?
