Now it you compare heritage motorsport ones with stock pistons it seems that turbo pistons are just lower and dome area is a bit deeper!I bet that the intake valve marks are exactly as deep as they are on NA piston.

Also Mahle ones have alot smaller quench..

What ever happened with this? Has anyone here ran the Woessner forged pistons in a boosted aplication in an Alusil block? If so, for how many miles? Any problems?

Thanks

My builder used http://www.rosspistons.com/. They will build you whatever you want, and have experience with our motors.

Class dismissed...

Hi guys, thanks for the feedback. I'm looking for specific information regarding the longevity of the coating. I would like to retain my alusil bores but without some solid feedback regarding longevity I think I may end up going with a nikasil bore and uncoated pistons. There are a few people on the 928 forum, one of which is an extremely highly respected engine builder, who say that these ( not just Woessner ) aftermarket pistons have not had a great track record when it comes to the coatings. There have ben numerous accounts of the coatings coming off within a very short period ( less that a year ) and causing damage to the bores.

How many of you have used these Woesnner pistons in an alusil bore and can you estimate how many miles you have put on the engine since. Have you had any problems?

I don't measure track engines in miles...

The most use on one step up is about 75 track days (3 to 4 session per day) and it have not been taken apart yet, its running fine.

Hello
i have build here in europe a 3 L turbo 8 V engine with this wössner pistons (track only) the pistons were bought at lidsey and I specially specify that I would use them in in stock 944 S2 bloc (alusil). The ring were also supply by lindsey. My exeprience waqs realy bad with a block and pistons damage afetr only some race.
I have then decied to use Mahle Heritage pistons and to rework the block a lit bit bigger. Untill now everything work fine. Hope it continue that way

Best regards

What was the damage to the block and pistons?

I used Wössner with Wössners own rings in my 16v turbo engine with great success and there's many other engines running these pistons in these engines.
