Damaged blocks? Second run of Mahle pistons
JAB Racing doing second run of Mahle pistons - 100.5 and 101mm.
Ferroprint iron coating, slipper skirt design, new rings, and wrist pins. Compression 8.0:1, recommended cylinder wall clearance .020mm, ex: pistons are 100.460 OD, .020 clearance(x2) = 100.5 bore.
Price is $1100 + ship, $825 required at time of order(3/4), full payment with order gets free shipping. I will ship world wide but customers pay all customs and insurance. Pistons will come in their own box, bubble wrapped and should be within a .10 gram of each other, as the first sets were.
Placement of order projected for third week of December, pistons ready 8 weeks later. First order, great success, JME gave great report on the pistons.
email me your order request at blpski@yahoo.com

i needed a set of 100.5 about 5 weeks ago, but the price from factory was too expensive, so i ended up ordering the MID sleeves and pistons from Chris White. its always the way isnt it. your price seems very reasonable.

You make me angry
I bought an aftermarket set last year, and of course this year these come around.
20 years after they started making the cars..... why not make them in the 19th year when I needed them?
Seriously though, those look very nice. Will there be any more stock later, or the possibility of another run in the future?

sorry about that. Another run, maybe, I just had some people email me about them who are about to start the process of rebuilds and didn't feel comfortable with other piston options, even though the 4 sets of Tom C pistons that we've installed are all doing great, including our track car, so JAB Racing is doing another run. There will be a few sets left over when the order comes in; we're doing a 50/50 split in size on this order, the last one was all 100.5mm.

I no longer feel comfortable with aftermarket pistons after my experiences.. I wish these had been available when I did my engine work. None the less, they look excellent and they are priced very well. I am certain that they will make all of their new owners very happy.
I was just kidding with the angry part though

The Tom C pistons mentioned above. I'll save this thread from turning into an argument, but it would appear that I had a failure of the skirt coating on one piston, and that piston is eating itself away on the bore.
However, on last inspection there is no longer any piston material on the block and the piston no longer seems to be shrinking, but there is a very appreciable portion of the piston missing.
This may be related to the switch to synthetic oil from conventional, it is hard to tell.
Basically I built the engine, bored to 101mm since the cylinder walls were in bad shape. It burned oil like CRAZY for 5000 miles or so until I figured out that one set of rings was upside-down and flipped them over. While the engine was apart I found that roughly 1/8" of one side of the piston skirt on one piston was missing, and there was a large smeary aluminum streak on the cylinder wall that exactly matched it. After this work I switched to synthetic oil (since I was no longer consuming 20-25L/week of oil, I could afford to switch, yeah that's right, 20-25L) and the engine was broken in, however a very large oil leak appeared shortly after. I removed the engine to repair the oil leak (loctite failed on lower balance shaft cover) and to repair a bad TO bearing at approximately the 7000 mile mark, and while it was out I pulled the oil pan, since the gasket seemed to be leaking (turns out it wasn't) and inspected the bore. There were no longer any traces of excess aluminum on the cylinder wall, but the piston did not grow back.
I investigated factory replacement pistons and there were no other options available at the time. I posted on here lots about it before going through with this plan, probably 5 different threads about it. If I had known that I could get new pistons from Mahle I never would have investigated any other options. Also in retrospect since I went with aftermarket pistons I should have done MID sleeves and gone to 106mm.

The Tom C pistons are great. We've run them with his coating and had a set done with PC9 and Gold thermal coat from Swain. No worry Chris, the track car is running strong and still has 146-148# of compression with less than 2% leakdown.
got everyones email, orders will close on Dec 1st - had to speed it up due to Sebring race next year for a couple of people.

JAB Racing...4 sets, 2 @ 101, 2 @ 100.5
There are a couple of people taking engines apart this weekend and next week. Just let me know as soon as you pass the "fingernail" over the bores.
