talking to a friend who bought a really nice sti, he said he's only gone 115 120mph in it, i got to thinking maybe he may get there a lot faster but could i 89s 15psi, LBE, chipped, pass him once we really got going? i wouldn't race of the line but then at that speed i'd have to drive to a track or the middle of the desert in order not to go through a school zone at triple digit speeds.

hmm...i dunno. mine is chipped to 17psi and i couldn't catch an sti that took off when i was behind him...mind you he had a couple of car lengths on me to begin with. i wasn't losing ground but it didn't look like i was gaining any either. maybe he wasn't stock.

I would like to run across one on the street/track sometime. With my upgrades now I would think I could pull on him, after winter (more upgrades) I think I could smack him.

I have a friend who has a '02 Vette Z06 and '04 STI. He loves both, and the Vette gets the most track time. He recently went to a track day at Laguna Seca where there were 2 STI's. Both of which he could not keep up with in the Vette. Now, the Vette is stock, and I don't know if the STI's were modded or not. But, my friend has been to over 45 track days in the last 3 years, and was an instructor at this evet at Laguna Seca. He's no slouch. Also keep in mind that an STI w/computer upgrade and exhaust is about 370-380hp. They also make a lot of torque. That gives them the potential to overcome some possibly poor aerodynamics. And about the aerodynamics, we all can assume that they aren't that good because of how the car looks, but did anyone compare the STI's actual coefficient of drag to the 951? Just asking. I wouldn't assume anything without comparing the facts or just getting out there and running against one. The STI is a damn fast car.

no, don't know the car, he did have those - i think hideous- stock gold wheels painted flat aluminum black or whatever they call that color/look. he also said the stock ride is very harsh.

As for your 951 vs a stock sti, i think it would be really close past 100. But in the end i think you would win based on sti's being 4 door bricks.
From 0-100 you would get schooled though. From 0-60 its really hard to beat an STi if they launch right.
However if the sti is modified then its a different story. I put down 270whp with a turbo back and conservative tune (my track map). With my new tune I'm hoping for 300whp. That should show you how easy it is to make power on the sti (and its even easier on an evo!)
