Noise from KLR box

Good Evening gents.
I have a sound that appears to be coming from the KLR box when my car is under load, at higher boost levels (16 psi and higher). Has anyone experienced somthing similar?
If I did not know better,I could swear it sounded similar to the description of detonation (Peas rattling in a tin can sound).
I have removed the KLR box from the footwell area into the cabin and the sound is definitely coming from there. Is there anything in this box that could fail and make this sound?
Advice for a newcomer would be greatly appreciated.

I have noticed this exact same thing. Under hard boost my KLR will make a rapid ticking sound. Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat and am wondering if this is normal.
Also, does your DME get hot? Like, still able to touch it, but hot to the touch?

Hi Swimmingly,
This sound is driving me nuts! Nice to know that I am not the only one to have experienced this.
To answer your question.
No I do not have excessive heat coming from the DME.

That's where that racket is coming from! I figured I must have left a screw loose, so I checked everything and couldn't find the problem.
Very difficult to place my ear on the KLR when hitting full boost though, so I could never pin it down.
To answer the other question, my DME gets very hot as well. I drove from Calgary to Vernon (4.5-5 hours) and upon arrival I was unloading everything from my car. I had just put the car back together and had not mounted the DME/KLR yet, and I brushed the DME while picking something up and it actually burned me. I would say it got to 70 or 80*C. This didn't seem right to me.

If engine grounding is defective you usually get this kind of problem, because it tries to get ground via DME/KLR boxes.

Ollie,
Would the sound not be continuous if it was the result of a defective engine ground? The sound (peas rattling in a tin can) only occurs under high boost (16 psi) in the higher gears 4th & 5th.
My AFR is mid 11's at 6000 rpm, and I have a water injection system to boot, so I do not beleive that it is detonation.
If you could elaborate further to your diagnosis I would be greatly appreciative.
Thanks

Nothing inside the KLR should make a noise, it might be something that has come loose inside the KLR. There is a large assembly that holds the preasure sensor and the circuit card on a plastic holder inside the KLR. The holder is held in place by four plastic tabs. If these tabs were broken, this plastic piece could start rattleing around.
THe boost line run directly to the sensor on a seperate daughter board. If there was noise coming down the plastic preasure tube, it could be amplified by the daughter board that the preasure sensor is mounted on.
