Well, I thought the PO had changed out the stock assembly with the Koni inserts but after trying to get them out, it appears that they are not the inserts?

Would it be obvious to tell if the inserts are there or if it is the sealed strut assembly?

The new strut inserts I have a bottom/screw moutn and what is in there appears to be side mount.

Help?

So basically, how do I already have Knoi struts on the car now, that are sealed or non serviceable with the modification process?? as I know these were not OEM and I know the PO was the one would put Koni's all around.

post as pic todd...and if you need some core's for the koni yellow mod, let me know. My old struts need a new home...for real cheap.

The fastener that holds the insert to the bottom of the old strut tube will be very obvious.

You should be able to see a bit of the top of the new insert above the rubber sleeve that seals the elements out of the original tube.

He didnt, koni used to sell them as complete struts.
but are now NLA, so you have to use inserts.

Strut conversion is pretty easy if you follow the Paragon writeup and use a set of quality spring compressors. Here's an action shot of my home brewed setup.

I just wasn't expecting to have to drop another $350 plus core charge just for my struts.

Anyone have struts already modified???

If I buy the ones from Paragon aloready modified, then the new inserts just fit in those straight bolt up?

I have just purchased new Koni's inserts, yes. But it turns out what is installed currently are the older, sealed Knoi strut assemblies.

Ok, so you have the new inserts then and need boddies to put them in.

Two cheap options:

1. buy the housing off of Ehall for cheap and put your inserts into these using the Paragon write-up. Sell your current Koni yellows on Ebay for $150. They bring good money because you can't get them anymore.

2. return your inserts and with the refund money have your current Koni's rebuilt by Paragon, True Choice, or Koni NA. Should cost less then $250 for this option.

Hey Kevin! Thanks for the options.

I would love #2 but this is my daily driver so I would not be able to wait for the send out, rebuild and replace.

So, I guess I am either going to by the $125 each from paragon and send my old ones back. As I do not have strut pullers/compressors to do myself, this would be done at a shop.

I guess I could ask the shop how much they would charge to make the altertations to my current strut housings and then instal the inserts. if it is cheaper than $300 (for the paragon ones) then I am ahead of the game.

I don't think I could resell these as they are wayyy soft now.
