Anders: Right, i have freinds with turbo mustangs here who ran 60% duty cycle injectors on 98RON, and with E85 they ran 85% (slightly more really).
Duke: Never used E85, but those are the reports i got from (again) turbocharged mustang friends of mine. It's cheaper than 98RON, at least here. 98RON costs ~$1.82/Gallon (imperial), E85 ran at ~$1.32/Gallon(imperial) last time i checked last month.

From reading the turbobuick.com forums, to me methanol injection is a viable alternative. I've talked a little with Julio (Razor) at http://www.alkycontrol.com. According to him methanol injection raises the octane to 116. Many of his customers run 24-28 lbs on pump gas with no pings.
His only concern to me was tuning my car. The buicks are already sorted out. Just install a new chip and your ready to go.
The only reason I haven't gone there yet is I just installed my new turbo and just ordered the maf and piggyback from John.
Handling paying $6.59 a gallon for 100 octane is next on the list.
He mentioned to me that he set someone with a 951 up a while back and commented on the fact the window washer fluid tank was huge and ideal to hold the methanol.
I also met a guy at the DMV who was finally able to pass smog after MULTIPLE tries by dumping methanol in his tank, smogging it and draining it out.
The only drawback I can see is safety. I've been thinking of buying parts from Jaz to turn my window fluid tank into a fuel cell.
If you go to the turbobuick.com forums there is a list of places to purchase methanol in the alcohol injection section. It's pretty cheap, $5 a gallon. According to Julio, it doesn't use much and lasts a LONG time, so is very cheap.
The only other thing is that the pump has to be designed to handle methonal. Most aren't.

pflyers, With the piggyback I sent you, you can easily add water injection. It'll be based on RPM/LOAD and boost.. Fully programmable.. Maybe I need to bring back the water injection kit as a product..

John, lets open this up to the additives available. What actually works? What can be expected for each? Where to find them? How much they cost? What ratios to mix?etc
I think the average guy is more likely to want to know where to get Xylene and how to use it than how to completely convert there motor to run an exotic fuel -not that that is not very intersting, mind you.
And yes, the GN guys do inject methanol and make rocket-like power!

A well thought out plug and play (no experimentation) WI system is worth the extra money in price IMHO. There are lots of systems, but how many would you bet your life on, not to mention your head gasket and cylinder bores?

Race Car
Assuming you are referring to my post just above yours.
I have a couple of cars on it now. one is a supercharged 944 and the other is my 951. I also have a mazda mini van and a bonneville on it.
I use EGT and a/f to tune it in
On the s/c car I really don't want to say much at the moment, but it is tuned using a piggyback, MAF and fuel pressure. If I say what I have coming out with this car I will most likely get flamed for it . I'll just say it uses a litle more than just a supercharger for boost (and the additional air doesn't come in a bottle )
On the turbo car it is tuned using fuel pressure (I have a rrpfr on this car) and it is currently getting 420-440 miles per tank.
The minivan is using a little highter fuel pressure to get the optimal a/f
the bonneville uses a system called full flex. (my wife drives this car so it needs to be automatically adaptive to different fuels)
I have in the past ran a few race cars on methanol and then ethanol (I know I have mentioned this before)

E85 is rated 11:1, E100 is 10:1 (optimal burn ratio)
