vac simplification question
On all my 951s ive always removed all the fuel purge parts and ran a hose straight to the canister to prevent vac leaks. My question is, can I get rid of the canister completely and plug the line, then just use a vented gas cap?

I also meant to ask, theres two little brown wires with pins at the ends in the same area just laying there. Its looks like there might have been a plug on the end at one time that broke off. What are they supposed to be for? right now i taped them up since they were just grounding on the body.

cory,
If the two brown wires are by the fuel purge and diagnostic plug area, I think they may be for the pin switch that turned the under bonnet light on and off

I would love to eliminate all that stuff myself but Cal smog will soon have a full pressure test requirement of the evap circulation system as part of the 2-year testing. It only gets worse here when it comes to emissions testing.
