HID Kit group buy?
Hey All,
If I was able to convince a retailer I know into getting us a deal on HID kits, who would be a confirm go?
I talked to him and I asked about getting a discount if I had 8 people, but he likes to order 10 at a time, so we need at least 10 people.
I've seen the lights in various ratings, and they look awesome! Cool thing is that you would be able to pick what K you want for the color temperature!
I've cross-posted this to the 928 Forum too.
The kits go for $400 a pop, but if we get at least 10 guys we can get them for $250.

Also, the bulb style doesn't matter, so if anyone wanted a set for a different car, thats ok too. Just specify when you order. Already checked on that

Nope, local guy who sells to some performance shops around here. I know the guy, I'd vouch for him 100% if you're concerned.
Got more info, they're Kingswood kits, higher quality. All metal balasts, and typically very low glare. Much better than the $150-$200 cheap-o kits on ebay.
You have your choice of 4.3k, 5k, 6k, 8k, 10k, and 12k color temps. The higher the kelvin, the more blue.
Oh, and he can get the sets for fogs too.

I assume these are for the headlights. I don't use mine so I'd like to see pics of the fogs. Hell pics of both would be nice. Has he done them before for our cars?

It pays to buy good HID's like you are offering but I really can't imagine needing any better lighting than my Euro Code Hellas on there now. They are like tractor beams on a dark country road and I seldom get flashed by oncoming traffic. I have an issue with HID's when they are behind me though; they seem to reflect in every mirror on the car much worse than most lighting systems. Euro Codes in 65/55W were a bargain. I upgraded the lighting harness at the same time.

Typically you get a crisper beam pattern with the HIDs, and they do light up things much clearer, kinda like taking a picture and upping the sharpness. And, they look damn cool, unlike those fake blue bulbs you get at Pep Boys.
If you have euro lenses, I would actually really recommend going with HIDs since the Euro lenses have such a better beam pattern.
He has installed them on quite a number of different cars. Foreign and domestic. I'll have them installed in my 951 in the garage if I can get a set from him and put them in the for you D.
I was actually thinking about your car when I was thinking about the H3s. You should definitely have HIDs in those since you have no 'headlights' anymore!
The problem with blinding people when you're behind them isn't the HID's fault, its the fault of bad aiming, or a bad lens. If you beam sits up a little too high or its cut-off line isn't good in the lens, yeah you'll hit some rear-views, that has nothing to do with the bulbs.
I'll try and get some pics real soon for you guys.

Woah, I was under the impression that HIDs required completely different lenses than standard bulbs, due to the nature/shape of the light source. Or more specifically, you're not supposed to just slap HIDs inside regular H4/H3 halogen-type lenses. Would this kit include HID specific lenses, or lenses at all?

TRUE H.I.Ds do need a different housing. They are made to work with projector headlights. That is why the beam pattern is scattered. They still work and look great though. I dont want to comment on the brand that you are getting but Phillips are the only German made quality HID kit. I sell them all day long. If you guys are interested I will sell a group buy. 10 or more for $350.00 a set. They come with the balist, bulbs and the relay wiring pack. If you guys are interested let me know. I can post a pic of the kits or you can call me at my shop. Soundfx 845-928-9099. I usually get 599 installed for these. They are not rebuilt. they are brand new...

Whoa, I need to see pics of the fogs with HID and without. I'm very interested but we would need completely different housings if I'm not mistaken. Is this all included?
