I keep hearing the MAF choir. How difficult is it to change it over to a MAF? How difficult is tuning it? What kind of gains am I going to see? What else needs to be done with a MAF?

Definately search as there a ton of threads on this.
Vitesse and Lindsey both offer MAFs and you should see gains ~40hp (depending on condition of your vehicle and mods).
An intake like the one you linked won't add anything but noise and will probably cause a loss in power.

I love John's products and will soon have some of them, but much of that power comes from the newer wastegate (Required with his programming) that actually holds boost. John has stated this numerous times.
But, from what I've heard and can completely see how it helps, is his crisp throttle response, talented use of programming, and an AWESOME fuel curve based on your set-up. The price is worth it five times over for that safety and reliability he progrms in. (Improved horsepower/torque gains there included!)

Once more. You can buy that little square adapter from pep boys for like $10 and get an air filter for $25. You're done. No need for the little bend they add.
"Best Deal ever" is a bit of a stretch.

Sorry streckfu. (Insert embarrassed smiley guy here) I didn't notice this statement. I retract, but will keep my last post up there in case his turbo and wastegate are stock.

Turbo and wastegate are stock.
95One....find me that part you were talking about and I'll pay you for it + a finders fee. I don't have time to search junkyards for it, and I'm not totally clear on what I need.

That size filter is a tight fit, i had the same one with a windward performance adapter. Went back to the stock box/snorkle with K&N filter, which I think is better b/c air is not coming from under the hood. Lindsey's version.

I am thinking (maybe incorrectly?) that it will help the car breathe a little better. Sometimes it seems like the car wants more air. I may consider getting an exhaust eventually to help out with that, but I'm just looking for a cheaper/easier solution.

The reason I'm shying away from the MAF is that it seems so much more complicated. This may be incorrect, but it's my perception. I'm also uneducated on which system would be the best.
Anyone in Baltimore with experience in installing one of these MAF systems? And interested in helping me decide on a system and help me install if it I get to that point?
Thanks,
Chuck
