Default What is needed for Tial install?

I have searched the forum and have found a lot of great info on wastegates and the Tial 38mm in particular. What exactly is needed for the istall? The 38mm are selling on ebay for $200. Speed Force Racing is selling them for $370(incl. adapter kit).

How did you guys install yours? Do you have to have an adapter kit?

Thanks

Great, looks like a good deal. I'm tempted to go for the 46mm but I just don't know if it's worth the extra $$$.

Required Parts
- Tial Wastegate
- Adapter Plates (or an exhaust already adapted for the tial)
- Set of new mounting hardware
- Safety Wire & Pliers or Red locktite (Much debate over which is better)
- Time and effort to remove the old wastegate

Purchased mine from europarts, couldnt be happier.

All I can tell you is I have Tial 35-mm no problem with holding boost. If you go on the Tial Web they have more info. The 46mm is more for high HP 400RWHP I'am sure people will chim in on that one.

Throw in the copper gaskets. Part "SCE 4150" from summitracing.com and I think SFR has them as well.

Default V-Clamp

Has anyone used the Tials with the V-Band clamp bodies? I'm thinking of using these. Ebay Item number: 8062201236

I went with the 46mm, just cause I was lucky enough to find one with about 1 hour of dyno time on it and thats it. (I wouldn't really be able to tell if the seller hadn't told me) 400 for it, was great, especially considering I had just called sfr, and he raised his price to 380 shipped.
The 46 is pretty too!

If i was you i would use the copper gaskets and remember on the 951 they hook it backwards. What do you have EBC or MBC??? I also used high temp locktite so far so good. you need the dounut gasket that goes on the inlet pipe that bolts up to the wastgate. One more thing and the most important thing is lotts of time and lotts of pb blaster. goood luck. BTW what year is your 951??

It's an 87, but I have a "Turbo S" k26/8 turbo in it. When I bought it, it came with some unknown custom chips. I made 260rwhp and 262rwtq with the chips, 3" downpipe, 3" cat-back, reliaboost and K&N air filter(not that that does anything) and stock wastegate. I just ordered Vitesse Chips and a 3barFPR, I should have them tomorrow and can't wait to install them! Then I'm going to to dyno it and see if the Vitesse chips make more power, but more importantly I know there will be a much longer power band and hopefully all round better drivability. My current setup is only making full boost(15psi) at 4200 rpm and then dropping to 13psi at redline.

I'm now searching frantically to find out how to install the FPR? Does anyone have a link to this info? I'm a little nervous; I have never done it before.

Thank you for all the great info on the Wastegate, that is the next purchase.

Pauerman was selling a very nice Tial 38 kit I bought about 6 weeks ago. Came with everything including stailess steel adaptors, pre-assembled and safety wired, with all hardware with drilled heads for safety wire. $10 more for SS gaskets. You still need a copper gasket for the inlet side. $320/kit. You might want to check with him.

18 months ago I got a Lindsey dual port wastegate.. It started sticking, so I ditched it on ebay 3 months later.

Then I replaced it with a Tial 38 with the adapter plates... But had all kinds of problems of things jangling loose (no support bracket like the Lindsey or the standard one)

Then my local specialist and 944 tuning parts guru developed a kit to mount a Tial 38 and another for the tial 46 to the 944 turbo.. Both kits include replacement pipes leading ono and off of the wastegate, which include some anti reversing thing that I dont understand.

So I brought their Tial 46 kit, along with a Tial46 and have seen it to be money well spent.

I went for the 46 rather than just buying his tial38 kit for my 38, because he recommended that the 38 was only good for up to 350BHP and my car at that point was pushing out 330bhp (flywheel corrected)

The Tial 46 is apparently the one to go for if your seriously planning on passing the 350 BHP mark (which my car did about 2 months ago and now has 365 bhp)

Interestingly, I have just fitted one of his wastegates to my 964 turbo, which I hope to be testing after the weekend.

Did you know these poor little air cooled cars only boost to 0.7 bar as standard? compared to my 944 turbos current 1.3 bar! Yet to get the 911 upto its current 1.0 bar, has been a nerve racking and expensive journey to do with safety! (more so than the bolt on tuning on the 944 turbo to date!)

I'll field the question. The saftey wire makes sure the bolts dont come out, and if they do they will still be attached via the wire. So you wont loose them on the highway or the track.
