Cool 300rwhp, 12.9 1/4 ???

Interesting. I assume this is calculated assuming a steady linear accelleration?

http://robrobinette.com/et.htm

Car weight: 3300

Wheel horsepower: 300

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1/4 Mile elapsed time = 12.95

Nothing like leaving out gear ratios.

3300 lbs is quite a bit, what year car? 86's are the lightest year correct? Although I guess 3300 is with driver.

There are several online acceleration time calculators like this one, giving 1/4-mile times and/or trap speeds. They are based entirely on empirical mathematical "curve fitting" to actual data from a variety of vehicles. In general acceleration capability over a 1/4 mile correlates pretty well with weight to horsepower ratio.

yea, 3300 with fluids, driver, etc.

I saw one site that took gear raitos into account also.

Yes, this shows, again, that our cars are not built for the 1/4 The power to weight is there, just that off the line part that sucks

yeah but with enough clutch slippage I don't see how it can't be done.... I think that most of us do not look forward to a clutch job however =X
I haven't seen very many people with drag radials or slicks on this site doing the 1/4 mile though either.

I think if a 951 ran with some drag radials or slicks the CV's would be shot the first launch

If not, then it would be a really fast run indeed.

Would LOVE to see a pic or video of a 951 launching and the front coming off the ground some

With everything fresh, 1st run, nah, second most likely. I'll be running my car at the drag strip once this year...

Because they are a good weak link. Buy the GNK ones, enjoy paying 6k + for a good built trans and then enjoy glazing your clutch. Of all the weak links, they are the best, easiest to replace, and cheapest one.

Not necessarily.... Tires are the cheapest and easiest “weak link” to replace. Besides, you need some amount of wheel spin to get acceptable 60’ times anyways.

I pulled a 2.06 sec 60’ on 225s with my boosted 928.

When you actually do hook up, which would you rather break, CV's, Trans, or Clutch? I know where my $99 dollars is going to do me the best.

Tires? Are you nuts? First of all even a decent stock sized tire should cost more than $99 (by should I mean, if it is less than that you are cheap and buying horrible tires for your car) and you have to pay someone to change your tires unless you a.) work in a shop and have access to a tire mounting machine or b.) have a tire mounting machine at home.

Axles are cake.
