The ones holding the three sections together.

Show me anyone that claims they can change a turbo in an hour even with a 2-piece x-over / 3-piece x-member and I'll show you someone in serious need of medication or a watch, 'cause they obviously have a seriously distorted view of reality or time - or both.

Chris said he could remove a turbo in an hour not change one out. I think I could come close to the hour removal time, none of my bolts are old and rusted

OK remove. . . maybe. If anyone was claiming they could do a replacement in an hour they'd have a spot on someone's F1 racing team by now. . .

Yep, just remove in an hour…..however if you install them with Velcro instead of bolts they do come out quicker than an hour!

The hour removal only works on cars that have been taken apart regularly…so the turbo mounting allen heads are not seized….

BTW – if really pressed for time I can get my head off in an hour also….!

Oh - I checked in to see if there were any openings as a turbo removal expert fro F1 teams…seems they have no need for a quick turbo removal specialist!

TonyG, thanks, Stage 2 it is. I wonder how much power to expect?
dand86951, I thought it was a power steering or alternator belt too. Changed them both already and it turns out to be the timing belt. Only have 15,000 miles. A bit early I think but don't want to chance anything.

Does this piece scrape the ground on a lowered car?

it shouldn't. the crossmember is made from a factory piece cut into 3. it's no lower than stock.

I bet I could do a replacement in under an hour. I would be cheating because I have the Lindsey intake and an oil cooled turbo helps. All I have to remove is the maf, two turbo bolts, 4 crossover bolts and the three down pipes bolts. Maybe a MC heat sheild if time permits.

With the 3-piece x-over, do you still have to support the engine from the top when dropping the oil pan?

The center of the cross member drops out leaving the two ends with the engine mounts still attached to the body and engine. You also don’t have to touch the suspension – so no alignment changes.

Has anyone ever made up their own 3-piece? I have 2 spare 951 crossmembers and know some very good welders.
