I'm unsure of the coating, but the one that my supplier use have not failed on any cars in over 5 years, & most of those are 800-1100 Supra's. It is 321 Stainess & will have 1/2" flanges. Oh, Do the 951's have slotted flanges at the head for the header to move around like the 928's?? I can't remember. I was thinking of the upside down J holes to make hanging the header (& mounting) easier.

Yes, they have slotted holes for ease of installation, if you want to call it that.

321SS is perfect! I would be a little uneasy about using 304SS in a racing application due to the long periods of high heat. If you can meet those prices using 321 that will be very impressive. Kudos!

I would suggest not polishing or coating for appearance. If they are coated, I have a feeling your market will prefer a performance ceramic coating instead where function is key.

The coatings are strictly performance-oriented, though available in a few finishes: the flat-black is the highest-temp: good for not heating up the oil pans as much.

I'll start on it this weekend: i have to get a flange made first, then a donor car. Wee!

Mark, if this header comes out as well as we all hope, you might have to change your name to just turbosports.com, cause you'll be getting a lot of 951 business.

I'm definitely interested. I think I'll hold off until your first batch is built/sold/tested though. Give my wallet some time to recover from the engine rebuild.

That is great news Mark!

But please don't forget about the full 3" exhaust kit as there is quite a bit of interest in that product also. What is the time frame on that?

I REALLY need a 951 that I can use for about 2 weekends to mock up the systems. Anyone in the Austin, TX area that's up to that? I'd like to be able to leave the car at the shop for the week flanked by the weekends: it would be secure, but would require the car to have current insurance.

Not sure Travis (my exhaust guinea pig) is up to that...you around buddy?

There is no way in hell there will ever be a 4 to 1 header in 321SS with crossover pipe and v-bands for $800.The raw materials cost more then that.If we could sell our headers for cheaper we certainly would. So good luck.

I'd let you have mine for a couple weeks if he doesn't pan out.

I thought the same thing, but I wasn't about to stop him from trying.

I'm confident I can meet that price, but not confident it's worth it to me to price it that low: too early to tell but you brought up a good point: I'll do some pricing to firm things up before setting a final price, & will ensure I let everyone here know about it before anything else happens. Might take a day or two.

If it helps to contain costs and make more worth your while, a group buy might be possible.

I might have to do that to "buy my place" line the manufacturing line. Also, It appears my price is good for what I've stated less the ceramic coating, which is over $200 retail for both peices. I might offer than on the side, but personally, & from my experience, you cannot reach up/down & touch a hot ceramic-coated exhaust pipe, but you can if it's wrapped in thermal-tec or so. My 951S was wrapped this way as is my 928 turbo kit: works great.

Are there severe problems with maintaining the $800 price for the header/cross-under pipe to-the turbo, but offering the coating at an addition price if requested? TurboTim was correct: i was ill-informed on coating pricing as part of my quote. Otherwise, I think we're good on things. :/

Comments?
