10.9 sounds good to me. Can you get metric 10.9 cap screws for the header to crossover?

Does that also mean that we won't be using copper nuts on header to crossover connection? I don't think there was a hardness rating on the nuts, but I can look tonight. I know that many people have used the copper nuts on the header studs without issue, so probably still a good choice, right?

Yes. That's what I am doing. There are 10.9 hardness nuts but that, IMHO is over kill
Also, being the nut( Pun intended ) that I am. I got some 10.9 flange bolts but they only came in black oxide finish which, in truth provide a better protection than the yellow chromate we have on our cars. Those, I believe were M 10 bolts for the exhaust pipe connections not the header - downpipe etc...

Ed

10.9 sounds good to me too. I would prefer the copper nuts (at the very least on the head studs).

Ed, could you please clarify? Are you saying that you used the flange bolts everywhere except the headers or only on the exhaust pipes? Any clearance issues with the flange bolts? - Thanks

I feel like a D**K telling you this but I haven't installed them yet
I don't believe there would be any clearance issues with the ones I bought or for that matter any standard flange bolt. I will be using them on the WG pipe header to xover ......
Never mind I dug up my old list
This list was what I went with I bought standard M8 just in case I need extras and
ordered every bolt in a flange type ( I then had the sliver zinc ones ( its the only way they came ) plated to yellow chromate ( I left the black oxide one's as is )
There really can't be a clearance issue ( I keep thinking of the Johnny Carson skit w/ the Claude's copper clappers from Cleveland ) Anyway the reason I say there shouldn't be an issue is because these are like having a washer on the end of a bolt
But I haven't used them yet so I can't say 1000% its a go. I would be blown away if there was a issue.
Sorry
Regards
Ed

Ed, no worries, I know how it is & I appreciate your honesty. If it makes you feel any better, I haven't even been under my car to look at the exhaust. Excuse; I've only had the car for a few month's (ok, I can come up with a few more excuses if need be ).

And to add insult to injury; I've managed to get about half a truckload of new parts/accessories for it of which I have managed to install about two items. Hopefully by the time I get the other half of a truckload I'll make the time to install them all.

Thanks for the list and explanation; it should help Artie a bit, I'm sure.

Crazy Eddie:

Thanks for the info, I think thats what I'm leaning towards. The 10.9 stuff will be a go, but I agree 10.9 nuts are overkill, I'm still sold on the copper nuts for everything. Every high performance turbocharged car nut I have talked to has always said copper, copper, copper. The same goes over in the air cooled world.

I think this should about seal the deal (my car HAS to go together this week) so I plan on ordering this stuff tommorow. I'll let you all know the details when I get it all figured out.

I checked the copper nuts for markings, they appear to have an "8" stamped on them. I didn't have a magnifying glass handy, but it sure looked like an 8.

RT930Turbo,
I'm still very much interested in purchasing the kit but I'm rarely on the 'list anymore....once you are accepting payments shot me an email and I'll send payment immediately. You can put me down for half dozen extra nuts too.

THanks,
Dennis

I'll be out of town (away from a computer) this weekend ... so if you start collecting cash this weekend, I will send it out first thing on Monday.

Hey guys,

I just made the order for the bolts, we ended up using 12.9 and 10.9 everywhere. This saved TONS of money over stainless, so that's good news. I don't have a total, but final cost should be in the $35 range, at the very least we will stay under the $50 estimate from earlier. This will also include the saturn studs, and a few extra nuts.

Those of you that ordered extra copper nuts specifically, I will accommodate you no problem.

For those of you that need nearly a complete kit, you will most likely end up with the whole thing, it makes it easier on me, and only costs maybe 4-6 bucks extra to include the studs, extra nuts etc. By buying bulk, it saves the majority quite a bit. If this is a huge concern please let me know.

If you needed only a few parts, (nuts, crossover cap screws, etc.) I have you taken care of, those will come out of the extra's since I purchased this stuff in boxes of 100.

I'll be in touch when I get everything sorted out.

Take care

Artie-

I don't know if I was on the original list. If not, could I still get in on this for a turbo? Could you throw your 500E in too?

Curly...I'm working on an NA solution...I think I should have something for you.

macnewma...I can get you taken care of, and what the hell I'll just package your hardware in the 500e and send it your way, use it as a "box" so to speak...

I'll keep everyone up to date with eta's etc.
