Unhappy Stripped Intake Manifold Bolt, what would you suggest?

What would you guys suggest on a stripped intake manifold bolt? It is the very last one towards the firewall that has the bracket that helps hold part of the wiring harness. How lucky would I be to be able to just tap it with the same size and it holding properly? Or would I need to helicoil it, and is that something I could do on my own? I can thread it down until it seats but it doesn't get tight, and if you pull up it will slide back out.

The threads in the head are stripped? Get a stud the proper length, and see if that will hold. Usually, the first few threads are the ones that go. That was my solution, but there were good threads about halfway down.

Mark, i think he meant he stripped the threads not the head. I would first try re-tapping it with the same size and see if it will hold. If that doesnt work, then put in a time-sert or helicoil.

Oh and if you retap, get a new bolt as well even if the old one looks ok.

But the threads are in the head... ?? For the intake bolts, I would not hesitate helicoiling it -- a good helicoil should hold 14ft. lbs. without a problem. You might try a longer bolt too, in case there are spare thread down deeper (or a stud as suggested above).

Haha, yea, i meant stripped the threads in the head, not the head of the allen itself.

It was the threads in the head that are stripped. Does anyone know where I might be able to find all new oem allen head intake manifold bolts?
