So then how do they do it on the Carrera GT and Enzo, the eary Testarossas etc? Those rarely see those kinds of bad things happening to them.

I don't know about the cars listed specifically, but the 959 used a torque multiplying wrench.

As for the strength of the systems, they were specifically designed for their application, so higher strength wheels were used, and the hubs weren't an afterthought.

What wheels were you planning on using?

If I could find a good street setup I'd like to use BBS, OZ, Kenisis or Fiske wheels. All of those guys offer center lug configs. For something like this cost is sky high, but I figure it would be worth the cost.

Cost worth it for what? Looks? Speed of pit stops? This isn't going to be a regularly competitive car is it? Awful lot of coin for another check on the bling sheet. But I guess it would be a good match for the wow-factor of the rest of the car.

Try calling Kelly Moss. I remembered their 928 V8-powered 944 car they were building and looks by the pictures that they are running a centerlock hub/wheel system.

Carrera GT Uses a torque multiplier. IIRC it's something like 590 ft-lbs to torque those some-bitches on

Yup, pretty much. I doubt I'll do it before the run as I already just got another set of wheels for the power output, but maybe for christmas 07 if santa is nice. Its not really needed, and yes they would be a pain - but when you look at them you just know there's something special about the car besides fancy fiberglass & a big motor.

Try calling IMA Motorsports at 703-849-9590 and ask for Chris.

2 weeks ago I was there ooogling a tube-frame 951 built by John Milledge. It had centerlocks and IMA is considering copying and selling the hubs and spindles. Not sure of cost or when they will be available.

I talked to you a while ago about the uprights. Good to know that you're going to make these units available. I was going find out if the buyer of your race car was willing to make these but now that you are , and is it still available as either centerlock or normal 5 bolt hub?

Yep. I was there yesterday and that blue #55 car was sitting in the shop. The centerlock hardware is a work of art. More than just for centerlock wheels, they are a solution (at least to me) to front wheel bearing/hub problems. Would love to have them on my car if they become PCA race legal.
