The oil tank is easy to relocate.
John - where did you see that the pan won't go overe the x-member?
Is this a fact?
The LS7 pan is a rear sump like the F-body pan used on my 6.0L swap. However, the front nearest the crossmember still needs to be cut and welded. Right about in the position where the pickup meets the galley:

Somebody will work it out. There are some very, very, fast LS swaps running at Homestead with the F-body pan and zero issues. Would you put the oil tank in the cabin?

I got to admit that it will be very difficult to beat a ls powered 944 in speed. A 951 doesn't stand a chance against a 944 ls v8 car and I can prove it! here is a video of a super fast ls powered 944 with a supercharger which I think is good for at least 475-500rwhp, his 1/4 time will be hard to beat by any 951 check it out,

time is 11:4

Correction, I was just reading on the youtube video description and it seems that the 1/4 times is 12.4 @ 116mph.

From my understanding he was having some serious slippage issues that day or so im told. A roots blower on any lsx powerplant is easily 500hp.

If you want a true test of that cars power look at how quickly he can run throught he gears running too 135mph.

That car is about the fastest 944 i've ever seen only one being faster would be special tools and yet again we are talking about the fastest street 951 on the planet at that point. Running race fuel and ALOT of boost. lol.

It looks like a decent donor 6.0ltr will all the goodies will run me about 6-7k at the most. After reading a little more into it there is no way im going to build a 3.0ltr now. Let me drop 10 grand on 370-380rwhp. Screw that

Specials fool is not the fastest, remember he got beat by pms, and markus car is even faster. Btw, your avatar looks GREAT, you are almost as big as my 18 year old who is a body builder.

lmao maybe. It'd be a shame though. Not that I dont love zo6's considering I almost bought one. I just can't bring myself to part with the 951 no matter how much I try.

I think this is a solid course of action for me. None of this will happen tomorrow or anything but, when its gets done i'll make sure to post some real videos/numbers/timeslips.

I'm sure it'll shut more than a few people up. Its all about powerband and the ls2 will make for one hellva powerband.

special may have gotten out driven that day but, he is a wrencher not a driver. You and I both know ST's car is stupid fast and IS the fastest known street 951 in the world.

No one is making his numbers. Now if we could just get him to take a drivers ED course

thanks for the kind words on my training. Its NOT been an easy road let me tell you

ST is a good driver when he is behind one of his Mack's trucks, that's it.

To be fair, if we're going to compare outright power figures of an i4 v's a v8 w supercharger, then it's fair that the 4 can up the boost. ST's car is still 2.5L and we're talking 5,6,7Ltr V8's. There are also some guys in Europe who's cars we don't see that are running some pretty big numbers, but I guess the bottom line is that the V8 transplant can be done at a reasonable cost and give you some thumping power everyday which is a huge attraction. I can't bring myself to do it yet. Maybe after the next build...

Here's a few LS1's with heads, cams, intakes, headers (typical bolt-ons). These all run on 91 pump gas. And can make this HP all day long on a track.

LS1 (483 HP at Wheels)
http://airflowresearch.com/articles/article083/A-P1.htm

LS1 (507 HP at crank)
http://airflowresearch.com/articles/article042/A-P1.htm

LS1 (530 HP at crank)
http://www.airflowresearch.com/ls1_dyno.php

How about the SLP LS2 based 402" L92 complete new assembled long block? Under $8500 (NEW). 475-485HP at the wheels!

There's a ton more...

What's interesting is when you see the LS engines turboed... wow. Way more than a 951 chassis can deal with.

Honestly most heads/cam ls1's I see dyno even with agreesive cam profiles and tunes are around 450rwhp. And most are lower 400's. Most ive ever personally seen is 470rwhp from a heads/cam ls1. Im sure there are others out there but, thats not the norm.

I have however seen 500rwhp ls2's, ls7's. I agree fitting a turbo on a v8 944 would be badass. I haven't even figured out the particulars on my v8 swap and im already thinking how cool that would be.

None the less any lsx powered 944 is gonna be one quick car. Im probably going to start out with a cam+bolt ons ls2 hoping for 450rwhp and go from there.
