the LS2 ? Is it dimensionally different to the LS1 ?

Thanks
The LS2 has been installed in serveral cars now and it fits as well as the LS1. The LS1 my car has, however, has the accessories arranged for the F-body cars (Camaro Z28SS ) and fits without mod. The LS2 as well as the LS6 from the corvettes need to have the accessories relocated to work, so its more work. I would imagine that the best of them all would be an LS7 if you really wanted to go that far...........

So what's the difference between the guys you went to and Renegade. They are here and I thought they were a good company. Yours look very clean. I would do it.

You know, I'm wondering what that would do to the value of the car. If I did it, I would have over 700hp, I already have about 600. With that clean of an install, coupled with the shape the rest of my car is in, do you guys think my car would still appraise out as 60k? Hot Rods regularly appraise for that and more. Would that be considered a hot rod?

There's nothing wrong with renegade. Im fortunate to live close to German Performance, because they were able to custom install the engine on my car. I was very satisfied with the fact that they took their time and built and adjusted the components to my individual install with tools that I would not otherwise have. Then the whole system was tested and tuned on the car so there are not generic parts or systems. If I had the time and a shop to do all the work in, maybe a kit would have been enough. Now Im getting an AIM display to replace the gauges in the dash and some HRE wheels to round it out....

Excellence did an article a couple issues back of a 968 with an LS2. Renegade changed hands at some point in the past and now are trying to address the LS issues as they used to do only the LT. If you buy everything from them it adds up quickly, but most V8 swappers say they wish they hod done it sooner. The Excellence article also addresses the value factor.
I've watched the board and have read good things about German Performance in Florida. Tony G made a strong case for the LS series motors in the 951 on this board a while back and he seems pretty sold. It all depends on what you are looking to achieve.
As someone said, the LS7, which is the ZO6 motor, will fit. That is an aluminum 427 with ...what...500 HP at the flywheel. Swapping ain't cheap though.

This was posted over on the racing forum, nice to see the entire drivetrain can be transplanted.

First ever grafting of the Corvette C5 torque tube, transaxle and rear dual A-Arm suspension into a Porsche 944 turbo chassis.

I've got my 951 with a V8 in it ( www.tonygarcia.org/944V8 ). I used a Bendix hydroboost with a 2004 Mustang GT master cylinder with remote brake fluid resovior.

I drilled the hole in the brake pedal 1/2" higher (closer to the pivot point).

The brakes work as good if not better than they did with the vacuum setup. The feel is perfect. I've used the setup on the track 8 days now. Zero complaints.

I did not use the factory proportioning valve. Rather I plumbed in a Wilwood in-cockpit adjustable proportioning valve (about $100 with hoses). Works great. Really lets you dial in the brakes on the track.

If you need, I can PM you the place that did the job (they are in Long Beach CA.. but I forgot the name). Cost is about $1200 installed (probably about $750 for the parts if you do the install).

Oh...

And congrats on the V8 install. Don't you wish you did it sooner? :-)

When you're ready, check out the HP Tuner software. You can log in and totally customize your air/fuel ratios and timing. When you see the range of adjustability with the factory computer your jaw will drop.. Amazing how far car computers have come since the 951 DME.

That's a good purchase, Tony! I've gained 38whp/30wtq with HP Tuners, but my AFR was WAY out of tune post swap. You'll notice a big difference in driveability as well, through adjusting your fuel trims. No matter what someone tells you, mailorder tunes suck!

As an aside, is it possible to use a 'Vette gearbox in our cars? Are all you guys just going through the stock 5 speed 951 box?
