I've been eyeing that clasp -- how hard could it be to pop rivit in a new one...?
Not hard with the right size rivets.

Like Tool said, no problem on the clasp. I did it on my car.

So do you happen to recall the size/make of the pop rivets?

Nice work Tom, looks great. I did a bunch of plating too including the hood clasp. 3/16" medium length rivets and nobody will ever know it's not original.

Tom,

I picked up a box of Stanley rivets from Home Depot. Part number PAA62-5B. These are 5mm diameter with a grip range of 3mm. They are aluminum. Worked great for me.

Thanks! I found the same rivets and popped it right in (no pun intended). Took 15 minutes max, including drilling out the old rivets.

Now that's what I'm talking about! Might as well clean it up and make it look good while you have everything out. Looks great!!!

Well, just installed the cam box and tensioned the belts. Not sure if it is the extra displacement or just new rings and bores, but the compression is noticably stronger than my tired 2.5. Getting very close to the big day...

Completely OT but I've got to ask as I've been thinking of doing the same.
How do you like the race deck flooring now that you have had it awhile? Does it work well with jacks etc. ?
How about cleanup?

Tom, how's the weight on the piston/rod assemblies, did you balance each or weigh each part and then fit accordingly? Looks great BTW.

No, honestly, I didn't. They were new Carrillo rods with build sheet weights. (I went to the Jerry Woods 911 class a few years back and he said he runs Mahles and Carrillos straight from the box, so I figured....) Also, Scott said the pistons were so close together, no point in trying to bore for the specific pistons....

Tom, excellent going there. I am a big fan of plating as well. Being in CA, you have a few options.
