The picture doesn't do it justice, but the joint is as smooth as glass -- can't even feel it with your fingernail. I tried tapping the girdle over, and I tried the freezer trick, but neither got it flush. The oil stone was surprisingly easy to use and leaves a glass-smooth finish.
Football season?? You mean that game you guys play that takes 4+ hours with all the padding? lol Man talk about a day out. Actually we had some guys out from one of your college teams to observe and take part in training with one of our Rugby league teams (the one that Russel Crowe now owns; South Sydney football team) and they couldn't believe how full on the game is here. Basically 2 halves of 40 mins non stop-no pads war. It's not Rugby Union or Aussie rules either. Damn these guys are fit!!
Anyway that pic looks very nice and good work to get it done so well. Hope your engine is up and running soon.

Sorry, missed this question before. No, I'm using raceware (with an o-ringed block and WF gasket).

Slow and steady progress on the motor. Pulled the 2.5 out and started cleaning the bay for its new occupant...

Motor itself is not really coming together. Waiting for the cam and clutch, and some odds and ends, then should be ready to slide into place...

Inching ever closer... just waiting for the cam, but may install the motor in the meantime... shouldn't be too long now...

A nice before and after of the p/s pump after a rennbay kit, lots of Simple Green, and trip to the plater...

yello zinc on all the gold parts. That pipe was pretty new so took the plating nicely.

I've had plenty of downtime, and a cheap quick local plater, so no shortage of plated parts -- even stuff you'll never see...
