Those vents were stolen from a 240sx I believe. Compliants to Bob Ward!

BTW David, the adhesive types are decoration
& non funtional. Look at the funtional type.

Hi NZ,
I don't quite like them cause they have that add on look.
I'm looking for something more OE like. Hmm maybe
a custom add on cowl may look good. The one on the
for Ford Focus would look good on the 951 but with
just a mash we don't really know if it's effective in
venting hot air when the car is on the move.

Well,

With a little bit of good fortune, I got the part needed (an extra hood) to start making a hood vent(s) for my 951. The first step will be to make a partial fiberglass replica of the hood where I want vents/scoops to go. This way I can do many tries.

My won't be "bolt on" though. What ever I do will be blended into the hood and then repainted (the extra hood is a different color so it would have to be painted anyway).

I have a few ideas on what I want to do. Some are similar to ideas thrown around here, some are very different. In essence I will be making a 968T RS "replica" vent (it won't be the exact same size or shape but will have the general flavor of the 968 vent).

The two other areas that I see need work are getting some of the exhaust heat out of the engine bay and keeping the manifold cooler. Because I am doing what I want, I will work on it an post results as I get into the project. I know alot of people won;t like what I do, some may. However, I am doing this for my benifit and no to please others.

What I will do is take some temp measurements once I get into the project.

I'll tell ya what Dana. You make whatever you want, and test it. If it does what we need it too do, some of us mught even try and get you too build/buy one from you. Either way, good luck with the project. Obviously there are some people around that are very interested in your results. For those that decide to chime in with some BS about how it doesn't fit their eye, I have a mil spec. virtual flame thrower ready for their soory butts.

ps. We are really interested in evacuating the heat around the intake man. area, as well as the IC flow. It seems that we may have had some good ideas in this thread. You might benefit from a few. Again, good luck. I wish I knew even a little bit about fiberglass, so I could design my own.

Dana,
You really do not want to cool the exhaust before it hits the turbo. Rather than trying to evacuate the exhaust heat, I would suggest that you ceramic coat the exhaust in order to contain the heat. This will also help drive the turbine harder. Evacuating the heat from the front of the engine (radiator and intercooler) will be far more beneficial. Good luck with your project. I have a spare hood that's waiting on the same process. Ideally, I'd like to remove the front cross member that the hood latch connects to, in order to aid flow. And pull that damn headlight bar.

Yes you do not want to remove heat from the exhaust
manifold. The main aim is to remove as much heat as
possible from the engine bay. The heat in there is horribly
high especially in the summer.
