we have a pretty big engine, pretty small turbo.. whats up with all the lag?
waiting till about 3k to make any good power just dosent make sence to me..
autocrossing this car is going to require alot of shifting between first and second..

What have you done to the car ?
If it's stock, first thing to do is to fit
a high flow cat or use a test pipe.
Rechipping the ECU with shimmed or
afternmarket wastegate. The above
mods will really wake up the car.

It was catless when i got it.. and you are right that not only helped with spooling but also peak boost..
but I had to put one on to pass emissions
What is the reccomended wastegate? shimming just dosent seam all that much fun..

Chips and a better boost controller make it seem like a whole new car. Wastegate is also worthwhile usually.
Most here run Tials using adapter plates so that the Tial bolts right up. Available from MySwiss or Speed Force Racing.

If you don't want to shim, than get
a Tial wastegate plus an Accuboost
to control boost pressure. Bypassing
the CV will also wake up the car but
you've got to be careful with boost if
you're running stock chip set.

The cars has a manual boost controller (dual setting turboXS)
and an autothority Mass air and chips (but i dont know which, I am assuming autothority)
what is the CV? (my best wild guess is control valve?) But I still have no clue as to where that is or what it looks like..
Adjsuting the boost controller is really only helping me make more boost not much lower![Frown](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
I will pick up one of those tial wastegates asap

CV is the Cycling Valve, the stock boost controller. Its under the intake manifold. Do a search for "CV delete" and thatll turn up some info.
Do you have an aftermarket boost gauge? That will help in finding vacuum leaks, etc that will also hurt turbo performance.
What car do you have? 86, a Turbo S?

Since, you already have a boost controller,
check to see if the CV has been bypass.
It's a brown color device with three vacuum
nipples. It's located between cylinder 3 &4.
BTW, you have to reconfirm with other listers
about this as I have no experience with the
Autothority MAF kit.

Yes the CV might be visible under the intake.
