I am pulling my stock turbo out to replace and I have some header wrap that I was wondering if I could wrap the turbine side with it. I would also do the down pipe and crossover. I see there are some blankets out there made of the same stuff but thought wraping it with what i have might work. Anyone done this?

Did the x-pipe with the wraps, should had done the downpipe and headers when they were out, but didn't.

I have my turbine wrapped, works well.

Be prepaired for a little stink and smoking for the first few heat cycles

does it stink without the special paint? Did the headers last year with the wrap and paint.

Is that just any old brass fitting for the water pipe on the turbo? 5/8" male to female??

Any problems with cracking or breaking of the wrapped exhaust/turbo components with the heat wrap?

Also, any increase in performance since you're directing more heat through the turbo?

No cracking problems for me, turbo, downpipe and cross-over wrapped, have had the headers wrapped before, but now Jet-Hot coated

To me it helps lower underhood temps more so than increase performance, unless you have a super tuned butt dyno

How long have you had your's wrapped?

Also, I guess any increase in performance wouldn't really be noticable unless it spools up quicker. From my understanding of turbo physics, it's mostly the heat that spins the turbine and not the flow of the exhaust so I suppose it must help somewhat.
