Default New to Forum, Few Questions.

Looking into getting a new car, possibly a '88 944 Turbo.

I have a few questions about the car.

Are there plenty of Mods out there for the turbo? chips, exhaust, etc.?

How easy is it to remove sterring wheel to replace with a 3 spoke, will I fail inspection if I put a racing wheel on there?

Whats a good price for an 88 with 70k miles?

Will I have problems with reliablilty if I frequently take care of the car? I drive an average of 20,000 miles a year.

TIA

As many will say if they reply. Do some searches on the site and you will get a TON of info.

yes, there are many avenues for aftermarket parts for the 951.

Like any car, if you take car of it, will last for many years no problem.

Tons of modes for the turbo 944.

The wheel is easy to change. you will need an aftermarket hub though.

Take care of her, change the belts on time and she will keep you happy.

Prices range from $6000 - $13000 depending on condition.

Just remember a $6000 turbo will cost a few grand to get up to spec.

When looking at a possible purchase, always spend a little more for good documents and solid maintenance history. It's better to spend $9k on a car with good records than a $5k on an unkown and have to put $4k+ into it right away. Definately have a PPI (Pre purchase inspection) performed by a sop that knows Porsches well and get to know the shop in your area.

There is a ton of aftermarket support available and the sky is the literal limit to these cars. You can spend a couple of grand and get some great power.

Spend some time reading through the archives and search for threads about some of tuners to get a wealth of knowledge.

And welcome to Rennlist.

these thins are great for reliability as long as you take care of them.

People at work laughed at me when I said I was buying a 944 turbo. And it has yet, $40k miles, to let me down.

As many mods as your imagination and wallet will allow. . . There are 951s out there with well over 400 RWHP. Just depends what you want and how much time and money you've got.
