My 951 is a 12sec car on the 1/4 mile now
Hey Guys,
I went to the drag strip today since it was open track.
Plus a few of my friend where going to tune their drag cars.
So i decided to run my car a few time even if it was not fully tuned with my new bigger injectors. The transition from no boost to around 5-8 psi need some work. But at the strip you don't see that problem.
First run of the day running 19-20psi
12.665 @ 117.5mph.
2.1sec. 60ft.
Wow was i ever suprised to see a 12 on my slip.
Last year i did a 13.4 @ 114. running 18 psi.
I did about 6 pass today and 3 of them where in the 12'sa.
My friend say that if you have 3 slips showing your car doing a 12sec. pass then it mean your car is a 12sec car.
My big problem is the start.
I really have to work on it to bring down the 60ft time.
And this with out scrapping the transmission.
Next thing on my list is the dyno to see some numbers.

Good memory Derek,
Yes i did get a LSD transmission from John but its not in the car yet.
I am installing it next week or so at my friend shop. Much easyer to do on a lift then in my home garage.
This was my first weekend out with the car since november.
I wonder if it will help my start by alot?
I guess we will see soon enough.

No, I'm from Plattsburgh, NY. Only about an hour south of there. Closest drag track and 18 being the legal drinking age. You could say I spent a fair share time up there over the last 3 years.
EDIT: I assume you are running street tires.......Some slicks would really bring down your 60ft times. (But, as I've learned with other cars in the past, with slicks, things tend to break.) Just something to think about.

Cool Ted,
We used to go down to Plattsburgh about 10 years ago to go eat at Taco Bells since we don't have them in Quebec.
Yes street tire Kumhos 712's.
I wont get slick because i don't plan on going to the strip often. Plus it would make a paper weight out of my trany.

You are very right. Back when I was a Honda guy, someone there let me throw on their track wheels for a few passes, with slicks, and WOW, I dropped almost half a second off my 1/4 time, and my 60ft improved like crazy. The fun ended when I snapped an axle; fourth or fifth run with the slicks. LOL
Nice numbers though, and the next time I am up in Montreal, I will shoot you a PM or something, maybe a cruise will be in order.

That is VERY impressive. I think you are at the limit of the 60ft time. 2.1 is excellent on these cars. Any better time will come from more power! Well done.

solid trap speed. You could get your 60's down a little lower by lowering your tire pressire and working on your launching a little better. 2.0's to 1.9's would be about the best you would ever see. So a 2.1 aint bad...you might be able to improve a little but, not too much. I think your main problem is it looked like you had to get on and off the throttle again..that absolutely kills...I mean kills your time. Your car should be all over a low 12sec timeslip with a lsd and some track time.
Congrats on the good time and trap speed. Its nice to see. Maybe take more footage next time though..hehe
