Danno / guru racing REPORTED TO THE POLICE
#136
I have never done business personally with Danno, and probably never will given all the threads I have recently read. I also did research a lot of older threads too. However, I just find it very strange that these threads go on, and on, and on, and on. But, I never see him comment, defend himself, give insight, or anything to give his point of view. Yet, he pops on other threads, and offers advice. Why does he selectively respond to certain threads, and not the most important ones that are about "customer service?" Given that he is a site sponsor, wouldn't it be prudent to address these concerns publially, so he can re-install trust, clarify issues, and help with any PR initiativies he may have? From a business perspective, I don't understand this behavior at all.
Sorry, just my $.02 cents. Eveyone, please continue....

I don't get that either, but it IS his business and he can run it how he wants.
Perhaps he just wants people to unload before he deals with them, which kind of makes sense. If you let people do their screaming to a (virtual) brick wall, they might be more reasonable when you finally pick up the phone and call them. I don't like it, but it's not all that dumb when you think about it.

Sorry but it is you who should mind your own business and leave the many people who have been ripped off by Danno alone!!!
Who the hell are you to tell anyone, anything??? Have you been scammed? Have you been lied to??
If not then pipe down and let the adults discuss this serious issue!

Interesting thread...
Few thoughts from a 928 guy who was formerly a 951 guy - and is seriously considering picking up another 951:
1. For someone like me, who doesn't frequently visit the 951 Forum, this thread is vitally important. I understand that for many of you 951 Forum "old-timers," this thread is a rehash of old news. But for other folks who don't live here on a daily basis and therefore aren't aware of the old news, it's very enlightening - and therefore very worthwhile.
2. It's been said before, but it's worth repeating: You can't logically tell people not to post threads like this - but rather to resolve business issues via PM's and e-mail - and then demand that we use the "Search" function. If someone hadn't posted public threads just like this - both past and present -using the "Search" function would be pointless, no?
3. There are obviously a number of people who have had satisfactory dealings with guru. More power to 'em. However, I don't think this gives them the right to demand that those who feel like they've been scammed should keep quiet about it. One person's negative experience is every bit as valid as another person's positive experience.
For example, I'm a doctor. If X% of my surgeries are successful, but another significant X% are disasters, don't you think prospective patients should have access to information regarding both kinds of outcomes? When choosing a doctor, do you only want to hear the success stories and turn a deaf ear to the bad outcomes? If so, you're making an important decision based on very incomplete data. Well, when I'm choosing a "doctor" for my Porsche, I want to hear full disclosure too.
I don't expect anyone to achieve 100% perfection in his dealings. And no one is 100% rotten either. So we all have to rely on our own personal "fraud-o-meter" that tells us when to beware. Factual feedback from actual customers - both good and bad - is vital to the proper functioning of everyone's fraud-o-meter. (FWIW, my own personal needle on Danno is way up in the red.)
4. Finally, there are many who keep saying, "Give him a chance. Give him time." Well, if there is indeed a wealth of old threads dealing with his problems over and over again, hasn't he already been given plenty of time?

Id have to say that just about sums this whole problem up. Besides these threads finally got Vitesse to become a site sponsor. Since some people seems to want to buy products from site sponsors rather than nonsponsors, Dannos business is prolly going to go belly up real soon.

Let us start a new thread on this, and find out.

Has anyone seen or heard of Danno lately? I have sent him some email's last week and still no reply. What's up with Danno?

Wow, sux to be faced with your own words, huh? That was back in June of 2004. Do you remember starting that thread? Hmm.
"Name me one Vendor that does that"
Vittesse Racing, and I know of a few that have had similar dealings with Lindsay.
Re-animator "As a newbie observer, Danno's technical insight has helped me build my car properly via his many enlightening posts here." Your join date is Sept. 2004 AND you are not a member. Pay up or shut up. I'm sure you've gained YEARS of knowledge in the past 6 months, however, some of us are, and have been, paying for years of Rennlist, and we've been witness to Guru's problems for actual years.
As to the validity of this post, or whether it's scandalous: Another thread started today asked whether someone should choose a LR kit or a Vittesse kit. A responder, who will remain nameless, responded that he was making 340 hp with his GURU set up. Because this thread was here, I was easily able to steer the guy, that started the thread, to this post, with the idea that he should make up his own mind, but be aware of what was being said.
Maybe that guy will still do businees with Guru, and maybe not. That's his business, but he has a right to know what the whole picture is, before making his decision.
However, to come into this post claiming " I've spend thousands of dollars and never had one problem with Danno.", when in fact you started a seperate thread because you did have a problem, is flat out dishonest, and disreputable. Real newbies need real info, and if they want to complain about what they get, then save the .02 and pony up the $17.00 to become a rightfully bitching member. I did, so I CAN!
Thanks for all your hard work John and Jenn, as well as the mods. You're in a tough spot on this one. I find it hard to disagree with the sentiments that Guru isn't a proper representative of Rennlist. Other vendors have been banned for bad behavior, though they were honest. It's hard to justify their ban without the ban on this vendor. I find it unconscionable that this vendor posted TONIGHT on a different BB, but still hasn't shown up here. If our board is good enough for you when you want our money, than it damned well be good enough for you when we want it back.
But that's just my 17 bucks worth. E

[QUOTE=Porsche-O-Phile]I don't get that either, but it IS his business and he can run it how he wants.
He can't with other peoples money,
He is not waiting to hear all then reply.
If you were in court you would look at his track record and convict him instantly. Christ guys, some of you would have given Enron another chance to blow billions of dollers of shareholders money. Lets get real here the guy has not fulfilled his obligations to a large number of his customers, he has made no contact with them, he has ignored attempts to contact him, the list goes on.
For all of those who feel sorry for him or have received free advice and feel he is misunderstood, send him a cheque for $1000 to pull him out of the ****. Just a word of caution, he'll be back in the same situation in no time so put another $1000 ready for next time.
I am a bit surprised at JohnD. Danno is a site sponsor and by not suspending his sponsorship he is potentially endorsing his actions. It must have been something big for his to have banned lindsey racing!!!!

As of last night I wasn't seeing "Rennlist Site Sponsor" listed under Danno's name anymore...
