Default Anyone ever heard of a T3/T4 Garrett turbo

After being asked what kind of turbo I had, I did some reseach on what's on my car. It's a ceramic coated, ball bearing turbo by TEC w/56 trim. Known as a T3/T4 hybrid or TE-3454k.

Anyone know anything or had any experience with this turbo. My initial drives tell me it feels pretty good and spools up pretty early.

pretty common turbo. A good one to boot. I have friends that run them. Basically a t4 bybrid(grand national turbo) with a smaller turbine(or is it the other way around?)

either larger compressor fitted with smaller turbine or the opposite(sorry it's early here.)

They work pretty well I have a friend runnning about 18psi through his on a 94 teg. He is somewhere in the low 400's mark(fully built everything) so I think your turbo could be about the same as far as capability. I don't however know the exact trim of his turbine and that usual dictacts how much power you can make.

Hi Club,
Are you actually using a T3/TO4E ? I should
think you would have a KKK or replica hot
housing unless you have modded your turbine
flange to mate with the T3 housing.

Disregard the TO4e in my signature. That's what I assumed I had when he told me it was a Garrett. I know for the most part it bolted right up. The coolant line bolted on with no issues. Some other things needed some persuading to fit the turbo into place.

400hp would be plenty. I'm pretty happy with where it is now, which I'm sure is 100 less than that. I just want it reliable and want to drive it for more than the 1500 I have since I bought it two years ago.

I was running a t3/t4 hybrid on my turbo prelude(avatar, lol). It was a 2.3L engine and i think it got my full 7lbs of boost at around....3500 or so. It's hard to remember though, as it was over a year ago it was totaled.

A T3/T4 is a hybrid, it does not tell you anything about the trim, AR ratio etc...
Alex, I assume your exhaust (cross-over pipe and down pipe) were modified to fit the turbo?

John, I don't believe so. This turbo was for an Audi turbo quattro. I thought it was a KKK hotside when I saw it. Unless its a different turbo. And if thats the case I believe thats for a 2.2ltr engine.

the t3/t4's that I know of like I said are from the grand national series. The smaller older turbine(t3) matched with the larger t4(compressor). They are common on imports. I will call up my friend who is running one on his teg and ask him for the specs and if he has any specifics about the turbo.

If it's for a 2.2 liter motor what effect will that have on my 2.5?

No exhaust mods at all. We just had trouble getting some bolts one because of clearance issues and then the stock J-boot wouldn't fit over the turbo inlet. I'll find a pic and post it.

I would assume quicker spool but it might run out of the sweet spot on the compressor map
