Hi guys,

I know this is way off topic, and there aren’t a lot of 951 guys in the Charlotte area but I can use some advice. I’ll be working in the area for two weeks starting Monday and can use a few recommendations on a few things so if anyone in the area has any good ideas on……

1.A few good places to catch a cold drink and a good meal. Nice eye candy won’t hurt either.
2.Any cool car stuff happening in the area? (maybe I’ll auto-x the rental)
3.Any casinos that have poker or BJ (are they even legal in NC/SC?)
4.Any good jewelry districts or shopping areas? AZ has the worst selection and insane prices so I try to buy it for the wife when I’m on the east coast.

There's a reasonable chance that i'll be moving there so I sure would like to get a good feel for the area now as well as keep myself entertained while I'm there. I’ll probably post this in the 944 main as well. Thanks for the help.

1) Lots of good places to get a drink in charlotte, what part of town are you staying in? The uptown part of Charlotte is alive and you shouldn't have a hard time finding lots of eye candy.

2) There are some charlotte Auto-x's but I think they are all done for the season.

3) You'll have to head for an indian reservation for Poker / BJ.

4) I'm clueless on this one.

Charlotte is a great area, i'm a bit upset that I moved to Raleigh NC, as I hate this half assed city. Best of luck with the trip, if you want names of places to go get a drink let me know, there are the dive bars with cheap drinks all the way to the upscale places where nothing is under 7 dollars.....

Thanks Ian. I'm staying at the Staybridge Suites on JOHN J DELANEY DRIV CHARLOTTE NC 28277. I'll actually be working in Ft. Mill SC which is only a few mile away I'm told.

Well I did a quick search of bars near by and there are some close to you that should be good places to go and get a drink:

City Tavern
Fox and Hound
and
Graduate Food and Pub

you are right off 485 so you will have easy access to Ft. Mill and Uptown...

It's only a possibility that I'll be moving there. I doubt they'll ever pay me what it'll take and I prefer to remain on a consultant basis. We'll see. I've heard that I may be in Boston for a few weeks in December.
