I've read that Porsche doesn't recomend 18" wheels on our cars.
Are there any concerns or problems with fitting 18" wheels?
I notice that alot of people seem to be useing them on their cars.
I was going to upgrade to a 17" 993 Cup wheel but if 18's work then I might
just go with 18's instead.
Thanks

I think it is recommended to upgrade to the 968's caster blocks.
If you run heavy wheels up front the power steering rack will probably wear a lot faster than if you run lighter wheels.

Go for the 18's!!! Just make sure the fitment is correct, or you WILL rub. I would say the most annoying aspect of my last 951 was that my Fikse wheels rubbed, but that was on an '87 car, and they fit perfectly on my new '86.

What size tires can you realisticly fit when going to an 18" wheel?
When upgradeing to the 968 caster block do you also have to change the caster eccentric also?
Will a good set of Fikse or Kinesis weight alot more than the 16" forged club sport wheels I have now?
Thanks all.

I run 245/35/18 front on 8x18 and 285/30/18 rear on 10x18s on my track car. No problems.
High quality ($$) 18" wheels like Fikse, Kinesis, HRE, BBS, etc. do not weigh much more than the stock forged or cast 16s. Probably a couple lbs per wheel. They will be in the 20-24 lb range. You have to get into the magnesium centered 2-3pc race wheels like BBS and Jongblood to get much lighter than that.

I have been using the 18s for a while. I'm up to 305/30-18 front and 335/30-18 rear. I deleted the power steering cooler, but will be installing a new one soon. The power steering fluid was getting hot even after a 30min session on the track.

The 89 I just got has 8x18 with 225 on front and 10x18 with 255 on rear. They are 993 offsets. No problems that I noticed, but I did just get the car.
I have some 9x18 with 225 and 10.5x18 with 265 993 offsets from my boxster that I thought I might try to see how they fit. They are Roock Competitions and I really like the look on the Boxster and think they would look great on the 944 also. If they don't fit I will put them on ebay and probably get a set of 8's and 10's from Roock USA.
Haven't driven the 944 hard enough to determine optimal tire sizes yet. ie., understeer on turn-in versus cornerbalance versus power oversteer.
