Mike, those wheels are seriously cool. What are they? BBS? Straight fit or did they require some spacers/other work?

Sami,

The wheels are BBS RE’s. A 1-piece forged aluminum design made for road and race. I think it’s used by Ferrari on the F360. The front 18x8.5 weighs 19lbs, the rear 18x10” is 20lbs. Tires are 265/35 front and 285/30 rear Michelin Pilot Sport Cup. There is a magnesium version of this wheel for some cars, but its roughly 2.5 times more expensive, IIRC. They are lighter and stronger than a comparable size BBS 3-piece Magnesium race wheel which have Mg centers, but only spun aluminum rim halves.

I bought these wheels through a race shop in Minnesota, Apex SPG www.apexspg.com The owner, Jim Bryant, club races a 944 S2 and really wanted these wheels for his car. Only problem was BBS only makes the 8.5x18” front wheel with the correct opening to fit a late model 911. The owner commissioned BBS to build a limited run of front wheels with a slightly larger opening to accommodate a 944 style wheel bearing dust cap(hence no front centercaps). All of the front wheels he had built have been sold at this time, but another lot may be done next year if there is demand. The 10x18” rear wheels are more available and interchangeable from 911 to 944’s. There is nowhere else to get the correct BBS RE front wheel for a 944 except through Apex SPG.

Straight bolt on, no spacers. I really like them so far.

I am still waiting for my new car to be finished to post any pictures of it (I know it's silly), so instead here are some of my old 951.

Just a thought, if anyone has the webspace could they maybe copy and paste these pics to a single site after this thread has run it's course? It would be great to be able to go back to the photos without a search. There are so many beautiful cars on this thread I'd hate to lose them.

I got rid of it for a better looking and faster 951. Basically, I sold the red car, bought a black one, did almost all of the same mods, plus some nicer ones, had an engine rebuild, and while at it, added some power! My car has been with Promotion Racing for a year, soon to be completed (note, a lot of that time with Promotion we were trying to sell the red car - he does not take that long to do such a build). If anyone wants to see the modification list for it, or any pictures, hit me up on AOL IM. That is just a F355 Spyder that I parked next to at a Ferrari dealership. One of my car buddies has a F355 GTS though, so when I get it back we will have some fun videos!!!!

EDIT: I have been waiting to post pictures of my new black one until it is 100% complete!

Tony, buetiful car, I love the 68 wing. BTW, I am jealous of you living in the UK. That is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.

Thanks very much, looks better in the pics there are some stone chips around the front / and along the sills. 968 wing was standard on 90 models though i think body colour was an option.
I enjoy the climate (mostly) and scenery in the UK, but not much else anymore, petrol is far too expensive (tax), driving quickly even on empty roads (when you can find them) risks your licence and therefore livelyhood, and the government seems to churn out more and more stupid laws daily.
I often think about leaving, but haven't found a practical alternative yet!

These are some awesome pictures guys. I can't wait to get my 944 turbo. I am looking for a black 86-89 944 turbo if anyone is selling. More upgrades the better.

I have a set from eBay that I'm selling for $30 shipped. It's the same set that CanyonBlaster has.

Mike - post more pics, please! Especially of the 968 sideskirts.

Great cars everyone!
