Well, I'm here in Gulf Shores, and I'm not leaving. The eye of the hurricane is supposed to make landfall late tonight. A friend and fellow Rennlister is here with me, and we're sticking it out. If we make it though, this will be one hell of an experience. We've got two video cameras and are going to film everything. They are turning the power off on the island and closing the bridge at Noon today central time. Its 10:26 AM now, so I figured I would make a post before they turned it off.

Hurricanes are pretty crazy. We have a friend that was in Grenada during the storm at the medical school. He was finally able to get home. They have roaming bands of armed looters there for days. He said the medical school had to be self-protected because the security personnel had left to tend to their own property. I guess the consolate finally sent some planes to get them out. He made it back to St. Pete and the school told him they would understand if he wanted to go elsewhere for school. 90% of the island destroyed, pretty crazy. He said part of the roof came off their house while they were inside. Nuts.
