billgot,
Timing belt, another thing that was in the back of my mind. However it was replaced shortly before i purcashed the car, say pro 15-20k miles ago.

I'm not looking for 1/4mile times, i've just always wanted 300RWHP in any car. Plus they have been nagging about how fast their cars pull from 60-110... time i show them a real car

Yea, the 13sec awd talon is only running 15psi of boost, however it has some internal engine mods done. Its a nice car, on the stock turbo. His other car, TSI Conquest we've put 20+ thru lol. Few HG's later we settled for 15psi.

The 12sec Datsun is running around 20psi on a T3/T4 hybrid. Odd car if you ask me, but has been thru alot, 2motors, 3-4 HG's.. lol

You sound like you have a solid plan.If you cange the head gasket change the Timing belt you gonna be in the area.Your right you will show them what are real car does from 60 -110. If you got here yesterday I just sold my custom hard pipes I made with a flange for a greddy blow off Valve for $20. I have a moded stock hard pipe with Greddy BOV flange with an aftermarket intercooler to turbo pipe laying around if your are intrested Give me an email I send you pics tonight.

What about the exhaust? Don't believe all the hype out there... I run stock exhaust and made 460whp.

Of course he doesn't. I didn't either, so I went from stock, to 55lb, to 72lb, to 96lb now. What a waste of money. Buy the biggest first, never worry about upgrading.

The clutch will start to slip at around 330-350whp. I toasted a cup clutch in less than 2 weeks because I thought it would hold. I do drive hard though...

I put in headstuds in my list. I ran the stock head gasket with head studs and o-ring'd block and had zero issues even at high boost.

Of course, some ppl will disagree with my choices hehe, but if I was to start all over with a new 951 on a budget, that's the route I'd take. Based on replacing pretty much every drivetrain part in my 951 over the years heh.

Rage you put 460Whp with stock exauhst With cat.He does not have the money to buy biggest injectors when he does not need them.He does not have 330-350Wrp or will he get it.I had no problems with my clutch runing 320wrhp.I just dont want him to spend to much.I agree with your ideas but not on a small budget like he has.Plus he can buy al this stuff from people like us when we go to the next step he goes to the next step.

P.S. there is no way you need 96 lb injectors but its cool as **** you have them.

As you can see from my signature, I did very close to 300 rwhp with the stock K26/8 and nothing more than the mods in my signature. I also have the stock cat still in place. I'm using the 18 psi Guru chips but my peak hp was made with 15 psi because my boost was rolling off on the top end. I am sure that if I can hold 18 psi to redline, I'll be over 300 rwhp easily.

No cat. I had it gutted by a friend's shop for free.

He said he had $2500 . I also suggested K27 + chips which was a lot cheaper (under $1k for sure).

I maxxed out 72lb injectors last year. This year with more displacement and bigger turbo, you bet I'll need the 96lb'ers.

Cool stuff, guess I was wrong. If I remember danno's post, he turned up the boost and made no more power because the turbo was getting the air so hot.

Have you looked into vitesse racing kits? They're stage one would probably do you really well... a little more then your budget, but holding off and getting what you want is always better then rushing... Also i have seen a lot of good word on vitesse kits on rennlist...

I almost forgot... You don't even need 300whp to destroy a talon... they are fast til 100 if they are built right... on a roll, they are dogs.. The gearing sux... you'll be in third til ~106 talons are like 85ish, depending on year, etc... the only car i've been in that feels faster on a roll then my car is my old boss' 550hp Dodge Stealth twin turbo...

Wes, although Jake951 made close to 300rwhp on his stock turbo, don't forget it's not the same as yours. He's got an '89. I think a while back I read danno got around 250-255rwhp with the K26/6 and Guru MAF.

Getting to 300rwhp is NOT as easy as it seems.

For a 2.5L, you've got be running at least 20 psi on K27 base turbo to achieve 300rwhp. Gadgets and mods aside, the health (mileage) of the motor is just as important.

To get 300rwhp reliably, expect to spend at least: $2500 rebuilt + $2500 mods + $500 dyno = $5500. Excluding clutch and other safety mods.

Powerhaus 3L 8V turbo conversion priced about $20K managed only 380rwhp at 19psi.
