Unhappy Sheet! I think I have a cracked boost pipe thing

Bah! I have been trying to track down some issues with boost...
After playing in the mts...
While cool, engine idles at 950 rpm. Perfect.
After it warms up, or I'm on boost at all, haven't figured out which, it idles at 1100 rpm. I get 10psi of boost in first, hold to redline. I get 13 psi in second and drops to 10.
That first gear boost doesn't hit 10psi until almost 4000 rpm.

So... poking around, I can hear a small vacuum leak near the AFM...
If I put my ear to the boost pipe right there, I can definately hear air leaking. Can't tell if its the pipe itself, or something else...? Can the BOV do this? Doesn't look like either of the silicone things are cracked at all. Also, there is a little oily mess right between the boost pipe and the J boot, and that appears crack-free. So, looks like this pipe

Anyone have one in GA? I need it bad :P

Oh, and how bad would it be to drive it to the mountains again this weekend if I can't find one?

The rubber couple thingies on both ends of that pipe can blow loose, crack, etc. Have you taken them off, inspected them, and re-installed with good clamps? That might be the first thing to try. There is also a little port under the throttle boby that sometimes loses its rubber vacuum line.

Tom - I have looked at them close, squeezed them and everything to make sure they didn't have any visible cracks. I just replaced that very vacuum line as well (today) hehe...

I agree with Tom, check all the hoses that connect to the pipe, the intercooler pipe itself should be fine.

Ok, you have checked the hoses, so could be the diverter valve, idle stabilizer valve ?

The air you hear could be air entering the air cleaner ?

2 Questions for you Brad.

1. Did you end up picking up a boost guage? or are you extrapolating some numbers from the stock guage....

2. What is your vacuum at idle?

P.S I will be in the usual chat room later...
