Home Depot or ACE hardware. I was surprised to find that ‘80s Porsche bolts are just garden variety hardware, for the most part.

Specialty fastener store. Check to make sure you get the same grade of bolt.

Got the bolts. I have the driver's side mount removed but having a fit trying to install new OEM mount. I've followed the Pelican DIY, crossmember bolts max loose both sides but still in, floor jack w/wood under oil pan raised engine as far as it will move, anymore and car starts to lift off jack stands, w/prybar crossmember as low as it goes. Note: driver's side mount 17mm bottom nut/washer removed 13mm top still in, Is this correct? Do I need to remove steering rack mounts? Please confirm orientation of new mount as you twist it in and it does have to go in from the front correct?

I have always had the privilege of replacing 944 mounts using a lift at my shop (I usually suspend the engine from above with a bridge), but I have always removed the rack mounts, let the steering rack hang, same with the front control arms (but be sure to scribe marks for the rear caster block mounts to preserve the alignment). With the rack and the power steering hard lines completely free, I remove the entire cross member, then mounts are easily swapped and things can be cleaned, etc. I'm often doing this job in conjunction with the oil pan gasket, is in that case I also mark and disconnect the steering shaft from the rack so it can hang lower and allow easy oil pan removal.

New motor mounts install complete. Steering wheel is now slightly off center. I assume due to loosening crossmember and not returning to same exact position? No big deal? I am scheduled for new alignment anyway due to lowering front ride height.

If you removed the rear control arm bushings/caster blocks (which is usually required with front cross-member removal), then the caster and this camber and toe will be slightly off. It sounds like you were already due for alignment, so get it done and all should be OK.
