Danno, it's the Uniden Bearcat, the 7 and 12 both do that.

How is that usefull, can it tell direction?

Here in the wonderful town of Cary NC (more cops per capita than anywhere else in the east coast), it would just go off all the time...

Rage2: Have you thought about adding an Aquamist (www.aquamist.co.uk) water injection system? I'm sure you're familiar with the basic way it works. It would really coo9l the cylinders a good deal. It would let you run your target boost level on pump much cooler or you could raise your boost a good deal and keep the same temps/reliability.

Well I'll be damned amongst us is an RX-7 legend! This is one RX convertible you dont want to meet at night! Bow to the 20B god.

Gordon - I bet you thought no one here would recognize you....BTW, still interested in buying my S5 Vert?

Going way OT here, but I was unaware that they built convertibles of the 3rd gen Rx-7. Gordon, do you have pics or a website? I am a HUGE fan of the 3rd gen RX-7, but I don't know a whole lot about them

When a "HUGE" amount of oil is sucked thru the intake it will kill the turbo.

I had to have it rebuilt.

The shaft would move so much that the compressor blades rubbed on the compressor housing, wearing down the edges

I also have a theory, and that's if I drive faster than the average cop car, I'll catch up to them instead of them catching up to me, which would explain my clean driving record hehe.
I have this theory too! Though it only works on the interstate. I drive extremely fast on the interstate, and I've never had a ticket going 250 miles to and from school.

I never thought of it like that! I have never had a speeding ticket and I drive 10-15kph over the speed limit all the time... Mind you we only have two or three police cars in the country.

Not all RX7's are 3rd gens. The convertible in question is a second generation. I happen to like all RX7's and even own a turbocharged one.....second generation that is.

Matt is right about me, but off on the car. The car he's referring to is a white 2nd gen friends that we put a 20b (3 rotor) in along with some other stuff. My car, which has been in a number of magazines (see April 03 Sport Compact), is one of the most well known 3rd gens around. At 25 psi it makes 605 rwhp and is fairly fast. I was one of the early experimenters with these things, going with several generations of bigger single turbos over time. Have started on a new from scratch 20b project built to a low state of tune (625 rwhp @ 14 psi). (The 20b can make 900+ maxed out.) Went 3 rotor because it has so much more torque and can pull big numbers without stressing it out. Also, sounds like cross between flat 6 and v12.

Justin, there are three 3rd gen convertibles running around, but the factory never got up to speed on producing them.

There are also quite a few very modded 3 rotor 2nd gens, including my friends convertible. It only puts out 550 rwhp, but that's enough to make it pretty fast, even though it weighs what a 944 does. I like the 2nd gens as well as the 3rd gens. I especially think the 2nd gen convertible is a nice car. Also, they look a lot like the 944 to many people.

Ok, done. This is a Porsche forum and that's why I'm here. Although I have a 3.6 965, I like the 951 and find this group more into doing the things I like to do. Most of the 911 turbo guys seem to be in so in awe of their cars that most don't mod them much, either thinking the factory knew best or leaving the mods to shops and not getting into it much themselves. (There are a bunch of exceptions to this of course.)

Hahah I knew that there were more generations that just the 3rd gen. I did a little detective work to figure out that Gordon's car is a 3rd gen. (I looked at his sig)

How straightforward is it to create a big bore 20B?
